Golden Calf (award)
The Golden Calf ( nl, Gouden Kalf) is the award of the Netherlands Film Festival, which is held annually in Utrecht. The award has been presented since 1981, originally in six categories: Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Feature Film, Best Short Film, Culture Prize and Honourable mention. In 2004, there were 16 award categories, mainly because in 2003 the categories Best Photography, Best Montage, Best Music, Best Production Design, Best Sound Design were added. Sonia Herman Dolz
Sonia Herman Dolz (born 15 November 1962 in Madrid) is a Dutch film director, screenwriter and documentary filmmaker, who gained international fame in 1993 with her documentary "Romance de Valentía" about the Spanish bullfighting. Life and work Dolz is the daughter of the Czech-Peruvian economist Herman Dolz and the visual artist Dora Dolz, who came with her parents to the Netherlands at the age of three. She grew up in Rotterdam and studied Spanish language and literature at the University of Leiden. She also studied film and directing at the Free Academy in The Hague, where she graduated in 1994. Since 1993 she has been working as a filmmaker, screenwriter, photographer and occasionally as a producer, camera-woman and sound-woman. Orlow Seunke
Orlow Seunke (born 22 September 1952) is a Dutch director, screenwriter and producer. Life and career Born in Amsterdam, Seunke studied at the Dutch Film Academy, graduating in 1975. After directing several shorts and TV works, he made his feature film debut in 1982 with the critical acclaimed '' The Hes Case'', which premiered at the 39th edition of the Venice Film Festival in which it won the Silver Lion for Best First Work, and which later was the recipient several other accolades including the Critics' Award at the Toronto Film Festival and the Bronze Hugo Award at the Chicago International Film Festival. ''The Pointsman'' () is a 1986 Dutch film directed by Jos Stelling, starring Jim van der Woude, Stéphane Excoffier and John Kraaijkamp, Sr. It tells the story of a French woman who moves in with a Dutch railwayman at a remote railway station. The two are unable to converse, but soon begin a strange game of seduction. The film is based on the novel ''De wisselwachter'' by Jean-Paul Franssens. Kraaijkamp was awarded the Golden Calf for Best Actor for his performance in the film. Plot A French woman gets off a train by mistake at a remote location. She tries to ask the pointsman for help, but the two do not understand each other's languages. She waits for another train to arrive, but it never happens. Jos Stelling
Jos Stelling (born 16 July 1945) is a Dutch film director and screenwriter. Career He made his debut as a film director in 1974 with ''Mariken van Nieumegen'', which was selected for the official Cannes competition in 1975. In 1981 he founded the Dutch Film Days a festival for Dutch directors to give them the possibility to show their films and to create an informal platform for the filmmakers. He continued to serve as chairman and director until the 1991 edition. After he abdicated the festival was renamed the Dutch Film Festival. In 1989 he was a member of the jury at the 16th Moscow International Film Festival. In 2002 he was a member of the jury at the 24th Moscow International Film Festival. Will Van Kralingen
Will van Kralingen (1 October 1951 in Nijmegen – 9 November 2012 in Amsterdam) was a Dutch actress whose starring credits included '' Havinck'' in 1987 and '' Temmink: The Ultimate Fight'' in 1998. Kralingen also appeared in Dutch television series, including '' De Zomer van '45'', '' Het jaar van de Opvolging'', and '' Het Wassende Water''.
