Golden Animals
Golden Animals is an American pop / rock & roll / psychedelic / blues / folk / country band formed by Tommy Eisner in 2006. History The group began in Brooklyn, New York, as a duo with Linda Beecroft, who added drums and backing vocals to songs Eisner had been writing, recording and performing solo since 2002. In 2014, Eisner and Beecroft decided to take a break from playing together. In the summer of 2016, Eisner moved to Los Angeles to reform the group as a larger ensemble adding Eyal Lidergot (Guitar), TJ Tate (Guitar), Matteo Arias (Bass), and Justin Smith (drums). Recordings and tours After a series of home recordings, Golden Animals recorded their first studio EP, ''Do The Roar!'' (2007), with Chris Coady at StayGold (part of Headgear Studio in Brooklyn, NY, which was later released by HappyParts Recordings. Chris Coady (born June 5, 1978) is an American record producer and mixing engineer who is best known for his work with Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio, Deadbeat Darling, Grizzly Bear, Beach House, Blonde Redhead and others. Roky Erickson
Roger Kynard "Roky" Erickson (July 15, 1947 – May 31, 2019) was an American musician and singer-songwriter. He was a founding member and the leader of the 13th Floor Elevators and a pioneer of the psychedelic rock genre. Biography Erickson was born in Dallas, Texas, to Roger and Evelyn Erickson, and had four younger brothers. The nickname "Roky", a contraction of his first and middle names, was given to him by his parents. His father, an architect and civil engineer, was stern and disapproving of Erickson's countercultural attitudes, once forcibly cutting his son's hair rather than allow him to grow it out Beatles-style. His mother was an amateur artist and opera singer, and encouraged Erickson's musical talent by taking guitar lessons herself so she could teach him. Thom Monahan is an American producer/engineer and musician who is best known for his work with the bands Pernice Brothers, Fruit Bats and Vetiver. He has also produced albums by Devendra Banhart, Wild Nothing, Beachwood Sparks, and the Chris Robinson Brotherhood. Biography Thom Monahan was the bassist and singer of Connecticut indie-rock band Monsterland from 1991 to 1994, the bassist for Lilys from 1995 to 1998, and a member of the Pernice Brothers from 1998 to 2005. Headgear Studio
Headgear Studio (also known as Headgear Recording Studio) was an American recording studio based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It was founded in 1998 by Alex Lipsen and Dan Long. In 2000, engineer Scott F. Norton joined as a partner and the studio relocated its facilities near the Brooklyn waterfront. The studio was featured in an article in Tape Op magazine in October, 2008. Headgear first attracted attention when the Yeah Yeah Yeahs recorded their 2003 debut album, ''Fever to Tell'', there with producer David Sitek. That album was nominated for a 2004 Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album. Sitek subsequently recorded with his band, TV on the Radio at Headgear and built the adjoining Stay Gold Studio in the same building. According to their Facebook page, the studio closed in 2012. Blues
Blues is a music genre and musical form which originated in the Deep South of the United States around the 1860s. Blues incorporated spirituals, work songs, field hollers, shouts, chants, and rhymed simple narrative ballads from the African-American culture.
