The team was one of only two teams from the state of Queensland when it first joined the NBL (the Brisbane Bullets being the other). The Rollers were one of three teams (the Geelong Supercats and the Hobart Devils being the other two) that had their NBL licences revoked by the league following the 1996 NBL season, 1996 season due to financial difficulties. Michael Eric Mitchell (born April 4, 1967) is an American former professional basketball player. He holds an Irish passport and played for the Irish national team in the early 2000s. Early life Mitchell was born in Los Angeles, California, and attended Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California. After graduating, he attended Fresno State University from 1985 to 1988 before transferring to Colorado State where he played one final season in 1989–90. Hobart Devils
The Hobart Devils are a defunct professional basketball team that competed in Australia's National Basketball League (NBL). Based in Hobart, Tasmania, the team was the only representative from the state of Tasmania for the majority of its tenure, but was one of three teams (the Geelong Supercats and the Gold Coast Rollers being the other two) that had their NBL licenses revoked by the league directors in 1996 due to financial difficulties. While not the first time teams had pulled out of the league, the sudden departure of the Devils, Supercats and Rollers signified that the NBL's successful era (between the late 1980s and early 1990s) was truly over. Carrara Indoor Stadium is a multi-purpose arena located at Carrara on Queensland's Gold Coast and can accommodate 1,600 fans, with additional seating provided if required which can push total capacity for events such as basketball up to 2,962. The stadium stands adjacent to the 25,000 seat Metricon Stadium and forms part of the Carrara Sports Complex. The stadium has the nickname The Greenhouse as even during winter it would get "Hot and steamy as Hades at times", although that changed with $800,000 worth of improvements in 1996 including new air conditioning.
