Arielle Gold
Arielle Townsend Gold (born May 4, 1996) is an American Olympic medalist snowboarder. In 2012, she won the gold medal in the halfpipe at the FIS Junior Snowboarding World Championships, at the age of 15. The next year, she won the gold medal in the halfpipe at the FIS Snowboarding World Championships 2013, at the age of 16, becoming the second-youngest snowboarder to win a world championship. She won a bronze medal in the superpipe at the 2013 Winter X Games XVII. In 2014, she was the youngest member of the US Sochi Winter Olympics halfpipe team, at the age of 17. She suffered a separated shoulder right before the Olympics and was unable to compete. Competing for the US in the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, she won a bronze medal in the women's halfpipe event. Her older brother is Olympian snowboarder Taylor Gold. Daisy Mabel Hendley Gold (October 26, 1893 – April 7, 1975) was an American writer, poet, and journalist. She worked for the ''Statesville Record & Landmark'' and '' The Greenville Piedmont'' before becoming the managing editor of the ''Wilson Times'' in 1920. She later married John Daniel Gold, the editor and publisher of the ''Wilson Times''. Gold authored a book of poetry, ''Tides of Life'', in 1927 and a novel, ''It Was Forever'', in 1940. Sir Charles Gold (1837 – 2 November 1924) was a British company director, landowner and Liberal Party politician. He was Member of Parliament for Saffron Walden from 1895 to 1900. Lieutenant General Charles Emilius Gold (6 January 1809 – 29 July 1871) was an English officer of the 65th Regiment, British Army, and artist of historic importance but limited ability. He was born at Woolwich Common, Kent, England, on 6 January 1809 and obtained a commission in the 65th Regiment by purchase on 28 March 1828. Gold retired from active service in New Zealand, in consequence of his promotion to the rank of major general, on 1 October 1860, having served 32 years with the 65th Regiment in British Guiana, Barbados (December 1829 – 1833), Canada (September 1838–July 1841), England and New Zealand (January 1847 – 1860). 2nd Infantry Division (United Kingdom)
The 2nd Infantry Division was an infantry division of the British Army that was formed and disestablished numerous times between 1809 and 2012. It was raised by Lieutenant-General Arthur Wellesley for service in the Peninsular War (part of the Coalition Wars of the Napoleonic Wars) as the 2nd Division. It was disestablished in 1814, but re-formed the following year for service in the War of the Seventh Coalition. The formation fought at the Battle of Waterloo and played an important role in defeating the final French attack of the day. It then marched into France and became part of the Army of Occupation, and was the only British force allowed to march through Paris. In December 1818, the division was disbanded once again. During the mid- to late-19th century, several formations bearing the name 2nd Division were formed. Bonnie Gold (born 1948) is an American mathematician, mathematical logician, philosopher of mathematics, and mathematics educator. She is a professor emerita of mathematics at Monmouth University. Education and career Gold completed her Ph.D. in 1976 at Cornell University, under the supervision of Michael D. Morley. She was the chair of the mathematics department at Wabash College before moving to Monmouth, where she also became department chair.
