Bonnie Gold
Bonnie Gold (born 1948) is an American mathematician, mathematical logician, philosopher of mathematics, and mathematics educator. She is a professor emerita of mathematics at Monmouth University. Education and career Gold completed her Ph.D. in 1976 at Cornell University, under the supervision of Michael D. Morley. She was the chair of the mathematics department at Wabash College before moving to Monmouth, where she also became department chair. Contributions The research from Gold's dissertation, ''Compact and \omega-compact formulas in L_'', was later published in the journal ''Archiv für Mathematische Logik und Grundlagenforschung'', and concerned infinitary logic. With Sandra Z. Keith and William A. Marion she co-edited ''Assessment Practices in Undergraduate Mathematics'', published by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) in 1999. With Roger A. Mathematical Logic
Mathematical logic is the study of logic, formal logic within mathematics. Major subareas include model theory, proof theory, set theory, and recursion theory. Research in mathematical logic commonly addresses the mathematical properties of formal systems of logic such as their expressive or deductive power. The Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) is a professional society whose mission is to encourage women and girls to study and to have active careers in the mathematical sciences, and to promote equal opportunity for and the equal treatment of women and girls in the mathematical sciences. The AWM was founded in 1971 and incorporated in the state of Massachusetts.
