Marika Gombitová
Marika Gombitová (; born 12 September 1956) is a Slovak singer-songwriter and musician. Once a member of Modus, Gombitová started to gain early acclaim as a former female vocalist of the group. Nevertheless, she gradually developed her public image as a solo artist, making own debut on short play in 1977. Subsequently, after topping the local music charts with " Študentská láska" (1978), her debut set entitled '' Dievča do dažďa'' (1979) saw its eventual results on OPUS Records. The album's lead " Vyznanie", earned several music awards; most notably at the 4th Intervision Song Contest held in Poland (1980). In years to come later, the love anthem was to be celebrated as "The Hit of the Century" (2007) in her country. Shortly before launching the second LP, '' Môj malý príbeh'' (1981), her career was adversely affected by a single-car crash. ''Zem menom láska'' (in English transcribed as "The Land with a Name Love") is a song by Marika Gombitová released on OPUS in 1984. As all the tracks from the singer's fifth studio set ''№5'' (produced by Peter Breiner), ''Zem menom láska'' was written by Gombitová in common with Kamil Peteraj as well. Richard Müller (singer)
Richard Müller (born 6 September 1961) is a Slovak singer, songwriter, and occasional actor. He is one of the most successful singers in both the Czech Republic and Slovakia, where he has sold more than one million records. Biography He started as a music journalist. In the beginning of the 1980s, while studying the theory of drama and screenplay at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU), he started writing for the daily paper and the only specialized periodical at the time, ''Popular'', and, later, for ''Gramorevue''. As a journalist, in his own words, he could get close to the musicians he admired easier. His first song, ''Radio'', was recorded with the Burčiak Pavla Daněka band. The track was very successful in the music chart 5xp, which encouraged Müller to start a band with Martin Karvaš, it was called Banket. Miroslav Žbirka
Miroslav "Miro" Žbirka (21 October 1952 – 10 November 2021) was a Slovak pop and rock singer and songwriter, widely popular in 1980s Czechoslovakia. Born in Bratislava to a Slovak father and an English mother, he sang in Slovak, English, and Czech. He sometimes recorded in London, but lived in Slovakia and since early 1990s in Prague, Czech Republic, where he died. In the late 1970s, Žbirka co-founded two Czechoslovak pop music bands, Modus and Limit. In 1982, he rose to fame by winning the annual Zlatý slavík award for the best male singer in Czechoslovakia. After the 1992 division of Czechoslovakia, he repeated this achievement in the Slovak annual Slávik Awards, coming number one in the annual end of year charts in 2002, 2004 and 2005. Ján, also credited as Janko Lehotský (born 16 April 1947) is a Slovak composer and former leader of the Modus band. Lehotský began his performing career when he was four years old, when he performed in a marionette theater. He was a freelance composer during the Velvet Revolution. In 1974 he began managing the band Modus, in which performed also Marika Gombitová and Miroslav Žbirka. He created about 20 records in his career. The composition that featured lead vocals by Janko Lehotský, Miroslav Žbirka, Marika Gombitová and Miroslav Jevčák won the Golden award at the :cs:Bratislavská lyra, Bratislavská lýra '77 in the contest of the Czechoslovak authors.
