''Gogglebox Ireland'' is an Irish reality show, broadcast on Virgin Media One from 22 September 2016 onwards and a co-production between Kite Entertainment (Dublin) and Studio Lambert (London.) The series is based on the original UK version and features 15 groups of families and friends from around Ireland who react to Irish, British and American television shows broadcast in Ireland. As well as RTÉ, Virgin Media Television and TG4, British channels BBC One, BBC Two and Channel 4 are also available to ROI viewers so these are included in the programmes reviewed along with some broadcast on satellite channels such as Sky One, TLC and MTV. Virgin Media One, also called Virgin One, is an Irish free-to-air television channel owned by Virgin Media Ireland (part of Liberty Global), operated through its subsidiary Virgin Media Television. The channel was known until 30 August 2018 as TV3 (and until 2006 as TV Three, launched on 20 September 1998), becoming Ireland's first commercial television channel. Its name was changed to Virgin Media One on the same day. The channel broadcasts a mix of Irish programming and acquired programming from ITV and others. Braveheart
''Braveheart'' is a 1995 American historical drama film directed and produced by, and starring Mel Gibson. Gibson portrays Sir William Wallace, a late-13th century Scottish warrior who led the Scots in the First War of Scottish Independence against King Edward I of England. The film also stars Sophie Marceau, Patrick McGoohan and Catherine McCormack. The story is inspired by Blind Harry's 15th century epic poem ''The Actes and Deidis of the Illustre and Vallyeant Campioun Schir William Wallace'' and was adapted for the screen by Randall Wallace. ''Strictly Come Dancing'' (informally known as ''Strictly'') is a British dance contest show in which celebrities partner with professional dancers to compete in mainly ballroom and Latin dance. Celebrity Island With Bear Grylls
''Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls'' is a spin-off series of '' The Island with Bear Grylls''. It was first broadcast on Channel 4 as part of a charity campaign for Stand Up to Cancer UK in September 2016. The show has the same format as ''The Island with Bear Grylls'', in which the participants are left on a remote uninhabited Pacific island with only limited water, some basic tools and training and are expected to find their own food, water and shelter. The celebrities however stayed on the island for a shorter period of two weeks. A second series began airing on 29 August 2017. The second series saw the celebrities stay on the island for a longer amount of time, four weeks. Ploughing Championships
The National Ploughing Championships ( ga, Comórtas Náisiúnta Treabhdóireachta) or NPC, previously known as The National Ploughing Championships Machinery & Livestock Exhibition, is an outdoor agricultural show in Ireland incorporating a ploughing contest. Held every September, it draws over 1,700 exhibitors and had 297,000 visitors in 2019. Competition classes There are distinct categories of horse drawn and tractor ploughing, as well as for the use of reversible ploughs. ''Tipping Point'' is a British television quiz show that is broadcast on ITV1. First airing on 2 July 2012, it is presented by Ben Shephard and features three contestants (originally four before Series 12) answering questions on the subject of general knowledge to win counters which they use on a large coin pusher arcade-style machine. Only the winner at the end has a chance to take home any money; the others leave with nothing except any non-cash prizes they may have won during the game. Gameplay The machine consists of two shelves filled with flat circular counters; the upper shelf slowly extends and retracts whilst the lower one is stationary. The rear face of the machine is divided into four drop zones, each of which contains a pegboard similar to those found in pachinko machines. ''Prime Time'' is an Irish current affairs television programme airing on RTÉ One on Tuesday and Thursday nights (following the '' RTÉ Nine O'Clock News''). All-Ireland Football Final
The All-Ireland Men's Senior Football Championship, the premier competition in Gaelic football, is an annual series of games played in Ireland during the summer and early autumn, and organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). Contested by the top male inter-county football teams in Ireland, the tournament has taken place every year since 1887, except in 1888 when the competition was not played due to a tour of the United States by would-be competitors.
