Gloucester-South Nepean Ward
Riverside South-Findlay Creek Ward or Ward 22 is a city ward located in Ottawa, Ontario. Situated in the south end of the city, the ward includes the communities of Riverside South and Findlay Creek in the former city of Gloucester. History Location of Gloucester-South Nepean Ward from 2006 to 2022 The ward was created in 2006 from parts of Bell-South Nepean and Gloucester-Southgate Wards due to the rapid growth in both communities. It was known as Gloucester-South Nepean Ward until 2022. During this time, the ward also consisted of the neighbourhoods of Chapman Mills, Stonebridge and Davidson Heights in Barrhaven. Stonebridge was transferred to Barrhaven West Ward, while Chapman Mills and Davidson Heights were transferred to the new Barrhaven East Ward in 2022. Andy Haydon
Andrew Scott "Andy" Haydon (born 1933) is a Canadian engineer and former politician. He was reeve of Nepean Township, Ontario from 1970 to 1978 and Regional Chair of Ottawa-Carleton from 1978-1991. Haydon was the first mayor of the city of Nepean when it incorporated on November 24, 1978; Ben Franklin assumed the title one week later. Early life Born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Haydon came to Ottawa, Ontario when he was six. He attended Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario where he received a degree in chemical engineering. He then worked in Cornwall, Ontario as a professional engineer. He moved to Nepean Township in 1961. The 2006 Ottawa municipal election was held on November 13, 2006, in Ottawa, Canada, to elect the mayor of Ottawa, Ottawa City Council and the Ottawa-Carleton Public and Catholic School Boards. The race featured three main candidates: incumbent mayor Bob Chiarelli, former Kanata councillor Alex Munter and businessman Larry O'Brien (Canadian politician), Larry O'Brien. The race began as a fight between Chiarelli and Munter, with Munter getting the edge and 2003 candidate Terry Kilrea in a close third. Carol Anne Meehan
Carol Anne Meehan (born December 17, 1956) is an Ottawa City Councillor and former news anchor at CJOH. Biography She is a graduate of Ryerson University (now Toronto Metropoitan University) and began her career at CHRO in Pembroke, Ontario, the city where she grew up. She also worked in Sudbury, Edmonton and Calgary. In 1989, she began co-anchoring the CJOH Ottawa evening news, then known as Newsline, alongside Max Keeping. She was laid off on November 17, 2015, by station owner Bell Media. Following her departure from CJOH she joined 1310 News as a talk-show host. She left 1310 News in November 2017. In January 2012, her missing husband was found dead in Brudenell, Ontario. She lives on the Rideau River near Manotick with her two children. Michael Qaqish
Michael Qaqish ( ; born December 1985) was the Ottawa City Councillor for Gloucester-South Nepean Ward. He was elected for the first time in the 2014 Ottawa municipal election. He was defeated by Carol Anne Meehan in the 2018 Ottawa municipal elections. Qaqish was born in Toronto and lived in Jordan before moving to Ottawa to earn a degree in Psychology from Carleton University. Qaqish's background is in journalism. Prior to being elected, he was a contributor to CTV, 580 CFRA, The Hill Times and CHIN Radio. He was the founding president of the Kiwanis Club of Barrhaven. He lives in the Chapman Mills neighbourhood of Barrhaven. Barrhaven is a suburb of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is located about southwest of the city's downtown core. Prior to amalgamation with Ottawa in 2001, Barrhaven was part of the City of Nepean. Its population as of the Canada 2021 Census was 103,234. Stonebridge is a golf course community in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The community borders the Jock river to the north, Prince of Wales to the east, Barnsdale to the south, and Greenbank to the west.
