Glenwood, Manitoba
The Rural Municipality of Glenwood is a former rural municipality (RM) in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It was originally incorporated as a rural municipality on December 22, 1883. It ceased on January 1, 2015 as a result of its provincially mandated amalgamation with the Town of Souris to form the Municipality of Souris – Glenwood. The RM was located in the southwestern corner of the province, approximately 47 kilometres southwest of Manitoba's second-largest city, Brandon. It was located at the junction of Manitoba Highway 2, running east and west, while Provincial Road 250 extends north and Manitoba Highway 22 southward. Manitoba Highway 10 provides access to the United States. The RM of Glenwood was home to approximately 800 residents, excluding the residents of Souris. A rural municipality (RM) is a type of incorporated municipality in the Canadian province of Manitoba. Under the province's ''Municipal Act'' of 1997, an area must have a minimum population of 1,000 and a density of less than to incorporate as a rural municipality. Manitoba has 98 RMs, which had a cumulative population of 301,438 as of the 2016 Census. This is a decrease from 116 RMs prior to January 1, 2015, when municipalities with less than 1,000 people were directed by the provincial government to amalgamate with adjoining municipalities to comply with the ''Municipal Act''. Provincial Trunk Highway 10 (PTH 10) is a provincial primary highway located in the Canadian province of Manitoba. PTH 10 begins at the International Peace Garden along the Canada–United States border near Boissevain. The highway runs north through Brandon, Dauphin, Swan River, and The Pas to the Saskatchewan boundary at Flin Flon. The speed limit is 100 km/h. PTH 10 is designated as the John Bracken Highway between the International Peace Garden and Riding Mountain National Park, and the Northern Woods and Water Route between Dauphin and The Pas. Manitoba Provincial Road 250
Provincial Road 250 (PR 250) is a provincial road in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It a north-south route that provides access to the towns of Souris and Rivers from the Trans-Canada Highway (PTH 1). Route description PR 250 begins at the intersection of PTH 2 and 22 in Souris, and runs due north to the Trans-Canada Highway. The two run concurrently west to Alexander, after which PR 250 continues north again, through the town of Rivers to the Yellowhead Highway at Newdale. It continues north to PTH 45 at Sandy Lake, after which it becomes a gravel road until it reaches its northern terminus at PR 354 near the southern boundary of Riding Mountain National Park. Aside from the Trans-Canada Highway, PR 250 also has short concurrences with PTH 25, PR 355, and PTH 16.
