Glendora High School
Glendora High School (GHS) is located in Glendora, California, Glendora, Los Angeles County, California, United States. History The high school was built in 1958 on land owned by Clarks Gordan, an orange grower. Before it was built, Glendora students attended Citrus College which functioned as both a high school and junior college for the area. The land contained oak trees which still grow on the school grounds. The first graduating class of GHS was in 1959 and contained 188 students. The school's teams are known as the Glendora Tartans. This name was chosen by the first class in a vote between "Tartans" and "The Oranges". Activities The school is notable for being one of six schools in California to have a bagpipe squad in its band program. Glendora is a city in the San Gabriel Valley in Los Angeles County, California, east of Los Angeles. As of the 2020 census, the population of Glendora was 52,558. Lea Antonoplis (born January 20, 1959) is a former professional tennis player from the U.S. who won the Wimbledon Girls' Singles in 1977 and four WTA doubles titles. Early life Antonoplis attended Glendora High School from 1974 to 1977 and graduated from the University of Southern California. Tennis career In 1974, Lea played an exhibition match arranged by Dale Jensen in Claremont, Ca with Tracy Austin, Lawrence McCutcheon, and Elgin Baylor. Ole Miss Rebels Baseball
The Ole Miss Rebels baseball team represents the University of Mississippi in NCAA Division I college baseball. The team participates in the West Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). They are currently coached by Mike Bianco and play at Swayze Field. They have competed in the College World Series six times, with their first national championship coming in 2022. Jacob Jesus Gonzalez (born May 30, 2002) is an American professional baseball shortstop in the Chicago White Sox organization. Early life Jacob Jesus Gonzalez was born on May 30, 2002, in Whittier, California.
