Glencoe II
Glencoe (foaled 1864) was a notable Australian bred Thoroughbred racehorse who won the 1868 Melbourne Cup and eight other principal races. Pedigree Glencoe was chestnut stallion by the imported Lord of the Hills (by Touchstone), his dam Queen of Clubs was by the colonial stallion, Cossack out of Queen of Hearts by Dover (GB). A stallion is a male horse that has not been gelded (castrated). Horse breeding is reproduction in horses, and particularly the human-directed process of selective breeding of animals, particularly purebred horses of a given breed. Planned matings can be used to produce specifically desired characteristics in domesticated horses. The Barb
The Barb (1863–1888) was an Australian bred Thoroughbred racehorse, famed for winning the 1866 Melbourne Cup, the Sydney Cup twice, and other quality races. He was bred by George Lee and foaled in 1863 at Leeholme, near Bathurst, New South Wales. Pedigree The Barb was by Sir Hercules, his dam Fair Ellen (also known as Young Gulnare) was by Doctor (GB). The Inglis Sires', registered as the Sires Produce Stakes, is an Australian Turf Club Group 1 Thoroughbred horse race for two-year-olds at Set Weights run over a distance of 1,400 metres at Randwick Racecourse, Sydney, Australia in April during the ATC Championships Carnival. The prize money is $1,000,000. History The race was first run over one mile in 1867 and won by Glencoe. The race between 1905 and 1908 was run over 6 furlongs. The All Aged Stakes is an Australian Turf Club Group 1 Thoroughbred Weight for Age horse race, run over a distance of 1,400 metres at Randwick Racecourse, Sydney, Australia in April or May during the ATC Autumn Carnival. Prize money is A$600,000. History The race has a long history and presence in the AJC Autumn Meeting dating back to 1865. The race was open to any aged thoroughbred including 2 year olds.
