Glen Smith (basketball)
Glen Stanley Smith (November 17, 1928 – September 29, 2019) was an American basketball player, known for his NCAA Men's Basketball All-Americans, All-American college career at the University of Utah in the 1950s. Smith played at Granite High School (Utah), Granite High School in South Salt Lake, Utah before matriculating at Utah Utes men's basketball, Utah to play for coach Vadal Peterson. An undersized Center (basketball), center known for his ambidextrous play, Smith establishes himself as a top scorer in the Skyline Conference (1938–1962), Skyline Conference in his three varsity seasons. After averaging 18.9 points per game in his senior year, Smith was named a first-team All-American by the National Association of Basketball Coaches in ''Collier's'' magazine and a second-team All-American by ''Look (American magazine), Look'' magazine. Glen Ernest Smith (born 21 May 1972) is a male retired English discus thrower. Athletics career Smith was a two-time competitor at the World Championships in Athletics (1997 and 1999). He represented England, at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. and represented England, at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. A third consecutive appearance at the Games ensued at the 2002 Commonwealth Games. His personal best throw is 65.11 metres, achieved in July 1999 in Barking. Raymond Glen Smith (March 19, 1931 – March 30, 1999) was a Canadian ice hockey player who played two games in the National Hockey League with the Chicago Black Hawks during the 1950–51 season. the rest of his career, which lasted from 1950 to 1966, was mainly spent in the Saskatchewan Senior Hockey League. 1984 24 Hours Of Le Mans
The 1984 24 Hours of Le Mans was the 52nd Grand Prix of Endurance, and took place on 16 – 17 June 1984. It was also the third round of the 1984 World Endurance Championship. The works Rothmans Porsche team boycotted the 1984 Le Mans race due to a disagreement between Porsche and the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) over the fuel regulations, meaning that drivers such as multiple winners Jacky Ickx and Derek Bell were absent from the race for the first time in many years. Porsche originally stated that its contracted drivers would not be allowed to race with any other team, however they did relent only two or three weeks before the race. 1983 co-winner Vern Schuppan was the only member of the Rothmans team to race in 1984, eagerly snapped up by Kremer Racing to drive a Porsche 956B he would share with fellow Australian, Formula One World Champion Alan Jones, and experienced French driver Jean-Pierre Jarier. Glenn Smith
Grafton Glenard Smith (April 25, 1895 – October 6, 1949) was a Canadian ice hockey player who played nine games in the National Hockey League during the 1921–22 season for the Toronto St. Pats, and won the Stanley Cup with the team. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1915 to 1922, was spent in the Ontario Hockey Association senior league. Born in Meaford, Ontario, Smith played junior hockey in Woodstock from 1910 to 1914, when he left to military service. After his return, he played senior hockey in Toronto until 1921. After his hockey career ended, he retired to the township of East York, in Ontario. In 1949, Glenn Smith died suddenly at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto. He was buried October 13, 1949 at Mount Hope Cemetery in Toronto. He had been an editor and publisher of a magazine in the final years of his life.
