Glastonbury Festival 2024
The 2024 Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts took place between 26 and 30 June at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset, and followed the 2023 edition of the festival. The three headlining acts were Dua Lipa, Coldplay, and SZA, with Shania Twain performing in the traditional Sunday Legends slot. Over 90 hours of television and radio coverage of the festival was broadcast. The main television coverage was hosted by Jo Whiley, Lauren Laverne, Jack Saunders, and Clara Amfo, with additional online-only coverage from Huw Stephens and Deb Grant, and aired on BBC iPlayer and several BBC channels, including the newly-created "Glastonbury II" channel in addition to livestreams from each of the five main stages. Pilton, Somerset
Pilton is a village and civil parishes in England, civil parish in Somerset, England, situated on the A361 road in the Mendip District, Mendip district, 3 miles (5 km) south-west of Shepton Mallet and 6 miles (10 km) east of Glastonbury. The village has a population of 998. The parish includes the hamlets of West Compton, East Compton, Westholme, Beardly Batch and Cannards Grave. Emily Eavis
Emily Rose Eavis (born July 1979) is co-organiser of the annual Glastonbury Festival, and the youngest daughter of the festival's founder and organiser Michael Eavis and his second wife Jean. Early life Eavis grew up on Worthy Farm, Somerset, the site of the Glastonbury Festival. In 1985, at age five, she performed Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star on the Festival's Pyramid Stage immediately before The Style Council headlined. After leaving Wells Cathedral School in 1997, she began a teaching degree at Goldsmiths University, London. When her mother became ill with cancer, Eavis deferred her course and returned home to care for her. Glaston is a village in the county of Rutland in the East Midlands of England. The population of the civil parish remained unchanged between the 2001 and the 2011 censuses. The village's name means 'farm/settlement of Glathr'. Glaston is about south of Rutland Water and is situated on the A47, east of Uppingham. The three headlining acts were Radiohead, Foo Fighters and Ed Sheeran with Barry Gibb performing in the iconic Legend's Slot. The 2016 Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts took place between 22 and 26 June. Tickets General Admission Tickets for the festival cost £228. Weather The weather was very wet on Wednesday 22 June with major traffic delays getting to the festival. Organisers said that rain and ground conditions had caused delays and urged people "not to set off". Glastonbury Festival 2011
The 2011 Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts was held from 22–26 June 2011. Tickets for the festival went on sale from 9 am on Sunday 3 October 2010, over 37 weeks before the festival was set to begin, with a deposit of £50 being paid, while the whole cost of a ticket is £195 (+£5 booking fee and postage and packaging). It was the last regular edition of Glastonbury until 2013, to make way for the 2012 Summer Olympics and 2012 Summer Paralympics.
