Glass Spider Tour
The Glass Spider Tour was a 1987 worldwide concert tour by English musician David Bowie, launched in support of his album ''Never Let Me Down'' and named for that album's track "Glass Spider". It began in May 1987 and was preceded by a two-week press tour that saw Bowie visit nine countries throughout Europe and North America to drum up public interest in the tour. The Glass Spider Tour was the first Bowie tour to visit Austria, Italy, Spain, Ireland and Wales. Through a sponsorship from Pepsi, the tour was intended to visit Russia and South America as well, but these plans were later cancelled. Live Aid was a multi-venue benefit concert held on Saturday 13 July 1985, as well as a music-based fundraising initiative. The original event was organised by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise further funds for relief of the 1983–1985 famine in Ethiopia, a movement that started with the release of the successful charity single "Do They Know It's Christmas?" in December 1984. Billed as the "global jukebox", Live Aid was held simultaneously at Wembley Stadium in London, attended by about 72,000 people, and John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia, attended by 89,484 people. "Golden Years" is a song by English musician David Bowie, released by RCA Records on 21 November 1975 as the lead single from his tenth studio album ''Station to Station'' (1976). Partially written before Bowie began shooting for the film ''The Man Who Fell to Earth'' (1976), the song was mostly compiled in the studio and was the first track completed for the album. Some biographers say that the song was written for Elvis Presley, who turned it down, while his wife Angie claimed it was written for her. "Changes" is a song by English singer-songwriter David Bowie, originally released on his 1971 album ''Hunky Dory''. RCA Records then released it as a single from the album on 7 January 1972. The Diamond Dogs Tour was a concert tour by English singer-songwriter David Bowie in North America in 1974 to promote the studio album ''Diamond Dogs'' (1974). Owen Frampton (6 April 1919 – 16 September 2005) was an English art teacher. He was the father of musician Peter Frampton and a teacher of musician David Bowie. Early life Frampton was born in the Kennington district of London, England. His family later lived in other communities, including Sheerness and Beckenham. ''When the Wind Blows'' is a 1986 British animated disaster film directed by Jimmy Murakami based on Raymond Briggs' comic book or graphic novel of the same name. The film stars the voices of John Mills and Peggy Ashcroft as the two main characters and was scored by Roger Waters. The film recounts a rural English couple's attempt to survive a nearby nuclear attack and maintain a sense of normality in the subsequent fallout and nuclear winter. The film was Briggs' second collaboration with TVC, after their efforts with a special based on another work of his, ''The Snowman'', in 1982. "When the Wind Blows" is a 1986 song from the soundtrack of the film of the same name, performed by David Bowie and written by Bowie and Erdal Kızılçay. Erdal Kızılçay
Erdal Kızılçay (born c. 1950) is a multi-instrumentalist musician of Turkish birth. He has worked with, among others, David Bowie. He plays bass guitar, oud, drums, keyboards, trumpet and violin. He lives in Aegerten, Switzerland. Work with David Bowie Kızılçay started working with David Bowie in the early 1980s, notably playing bass on a demo of Bowie's 1983 single " Let's Dance", although he did not appear on the final recording. Kızılçay is a multi-instrumentalist; for example, he played every instrument except guitar on the song "Shades" on Iggy Pop's album ''Blah Blah Blah'' (1986), which was co-produced and co-written by Bowie. ''Blah-Blah-Blah'' is the seventh studio album by American musician Iggy Pop. Originally released in October 1986, on the label A&M, it remains his most commercially successful album to date. ''Blah-Blah-Blah'' appeared after a four-year hiatus for Pop, with David Bowie serving as his prime collaborator. It would be their final collaboration.
