Glandore Football Club
Kaurna Eagles Football Club was an Australian rules football club based in Mawson Lakes, South Australia that folded at the end of the 2007 South Australian Amateur Football League (SAAFL) season. History The club was established in 1958 as the Glandore Football Club based at Glandore Oval in the suburb of Glandore, south of Adelaide. Upon establishment, Glandore joined the Glenelg-South-West District Football Association and had almost instant success, winning the A1 premiership in 1961, their fourth season. Glandore remained in that competition (which changed names a couple of times), until the end of the then 1984 Southern Metropolitan Football League season. In 1985 the club moved to the South Australian Amateur Football League where it started in the A6 division, where it gradually made its way up the divisions until it reached Division 1 in 2000. Mawson Lakes is a residential suburb in the City of Salisbury, Adelaide, Australia. Named in honor of Sir Douglas Mawson, it has a census area population of 10,872 people. Glandore (postcode 5037) is a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia, partly in the City of Marion and partly in the City of West Torrens. The name is believed to come from Glandore in County Cork, Ireland, whence the family of John O'Dea, one of the original property owners of the area, came. History The City of Marion section of Glandore was originally named Edwardstown. Edwardstown Industrial School (1898–1949) was renamed Glandore Industrial School until 1958, when it became Glandore Children's Home until its closure in 1966. Ovingham, South Australia
Ovingham is an inner northern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is located in the cities of Charles Sturt and Prospect. Geography The suburb is located between Park Terrace and the Gawler railway line. It is bisected by Torrens Road. History Ovingham was established in 1875 by William Whinham. The portion of Ovingham in the City of Charles Sturt (the triangle bounded by the railway line, Torrens Road and Park Terrace) was previously considered to be part of Bowden, known as ''Bowden-on-the-Hill''. A proposal to rename it to Hillside in 1929 was favorably received locally, but rejected by the government. Ovingham Post Office opened on 1 November 1879 but was renamed Bowden in 1970. Pennington is a northern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia, located about 10 km from the Adelaide city centre. It is located in the City of Charles Sturt. The suburb is residential, apart from a light industrial pocket to the south. History The area now including Pennington was subdivided in 1909 by Captain Alfred Hodgeman, who named a section after his wife, the former Helen Pennington. The Pennington Post Office opened on 1 May 1939 and closed in 1997. Pennington was the site of a Migrant hostels of South Australia#Pennington Hostel, migrant hostel from 1950 until it closed in 1985. It was known as Finsbury Hostel from 1949 to 1966, then renamed to Pennington. It initially consisted of Nissen huts, Romney huts and Quonset huts, mostly second hand Army surplus.
