Renee Gladman
Renee Gladman (born 1971) is a poet, novelist, essayist, and artist. She has published prose works including the Ravicka series of novels and the crime novel, ''Morelia''; the poetry collection, ''Calamities''; and a monograph of drawings, ''Prose Architectures''. Career Gladman is a graduate of Vassar College (BA, 1993), and studied poetics at the New College of California (MA, 2006). She taught creative writing for many years at Brown University, served as a fellow at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard, and was a 2016 Image Text fellow at Ithaca College. Her writing is associated with the New Narrative movement, characterized by writing that "tests the potential of the sentence with map-making precision and curiosity." In 2016 she was awarded a Foundation for Contemporary Arts Grant to Artists, which supported the publication of ''Prose Architectures''. Frederick John Gladman
Frederick John Gladman (1 February 1839 – 12 November 1884) was an Australian educationist and author whose work had an influence on the formation of Australia's educational system. His textbooks were used as late as the 1930s to train teachers. Biography Gladman was born on 1 February 1839 in London. He attended a monitorial school until he was fourteen. Gladman then served an apprenticeship as a pupil-teacher at the British and Foreign School in Bushey, Hertfordshire. Later he received a year of teacher training from Borough Road Training College in London. He had a successful career teaching at a small school in Surrey from 1859 until 1862. In 1863, at the young age of 24, he was given the position of headmaster of a larger school in Great Yarmouth. In 1869 he entered the University of London, ultimately receiving two Bachelor's degrees. Gladman then returned to Borough Road Training College to serve as a headmaster. Rodney "Rod" Gladman (born 19 February 1968) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with St Kilda in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Gladman spent most of his career with East Ballarat in the Ballarat Football League (BFL), but made one VFL appearance for St Kilda in the 1987 season, their round 14 loss to Geelong at Kardinia Park. He was picked up in the 1990 Pre-Season Draft by Collingwood, where he played only in the reserves. He continued to play for East Ballarat after his stints in the VFL and was the BFL Leading Goal-kicker in 1992, with 61 goals. Marjorie Gladman
Marjorie Katherine "Midge" Gladman Van Ryn (née Gladman; June 21, 1908 – November 9, 1999) was an American amateur tennis player in the early part of the 20th century. Gladman played collegiate tennis at the University of Southern California. She was ranked in the U.S. top 10 nine times between 1928 and 1937, with her highest ranking at No. 4 coming in 1937. She won the doubles title at the 1936 U.S. National Championships, partnering Carolin Babcock, and was a doubles finalist in 1937 and 1940. In 1928, she won the singles title in Cincinnati (defeating Clara Louise Zinke in the final), the Canadian National singles title, and the Western singles championship. She paired with Zinke to win the 1928 Western doubles title. In 1929, she won the singles and doubles titles at both the women's intercollegiate tournament in Boston and the Middle States singles title in Philadelphia. Malcolm Gladman
Malcolm Joseph Gladman (1915 – 26 August 1987) was an Australian politician. He was born in Warrnambool, and worked in a store and as a fruit picker and wharf labourer. He served in World War II and became a clerk with the Nestlé factory at Dennington. He was secretary of the local sub-branch of the cold storage union, and president of the Warrnambool branch of the Labor Party. In 1952 he was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly for Warrnambool, and from 1953 to 1955 was Assistant Minister of Lands, Soldier Settlement and Conservation. Constance Helen Gladman (23 December 1922 – 30 November 1964), also known as Sr. Mary Rosina, was a professed religious of the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and a Servant of God. There is current action to seek her canonisation. She was born in Koroit, Victoria the oldest of seven children, raised in Warrong and educated in Warrnambool and Melbourne.
