Malcolm Gladman
Malcolm Joseph Gladman (1915 – 26 August 1987) was an Australian politician. He was born in Warrnambool, and worked in a store and as a fruit picker and wharf labourer. He served in World War II and became a clerk with the Nestlé factory at Dennington. He was secretary of the local sub-branch of the cold storage union, and president of the Warrnambool branch of the Labor Party. In 1952 he was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly for Warrnambool, and from 1953 to 1955 was Assistant Minister of Lands, Soldier Settlement and Conservation. Warrnambool, Victoria
Warrnambool (Maar: ''Peetoop'' or ''Wheringkernitch'' or ''Warrnambool'') is a city on the south-western coast of Victoria, Australia. At the 2021 census, Warrnambool had a population of 35,743. Situated on the Princes Highway, Warrnambool (Allansford) marks the western end of the Great Ocean Road and the southern end of the Hopkins Highway. History Origin of name The name "Warrnambool" originated from Mount Warrnambool, a scoria cone volcano 25 kilometres northeast of the town. Warrnambool (or Warrnoobul) was the title of both the volcano and the clan of Aboriginal Australian people who lived there. In the local language, the prefix Warnn- designated home or hut, while the meaning of the suffix -ambool is now unknown. William Fowler Pickering, the colonial government surveyor who in 1845 was tasked with the initial planning of the township, chose to name the town Warrnambool. Dennington, Victoria
Dennington is a town in the Western District of Victoria, Australia. The town is located in the City of Warrnambool local government area, south west of the state capital, Melbourne and north west of the regional centre of Warrnambool. At the 2016 census, Dennington had a population of 1,907. The town was home to a large bulk milk powder plant operated by New Zealand dairy co-operative, Fonterra. When opened by Nestlé in 1911, it was the world's largest condensed milk plant. The plant was closed in 2019 and is now owned by Provico. The Australian Labor Party (Victorian Branch), commonly known as Victorian Labor, is the semi-autonomous Victorian branch of the Australian Labor Party (ALP). The Victorian branch comprises two major wings: the parliamentary wing and the organisational wing. Ronald Mack
Sir Ronald William Mack (20 May 1904 – 12 February 1968) was an Australian politician. He was born at Warrnambool to wool buyer Frederick David Mack and Elizabeth Edith Hatton. He attended Warrnambool High School and qualified as an accountant in 1927. From 1930 he ran his own accountancy firm. On 20 February 1935, he married Helen Isobel Janet Lindsay; they had one son. He later remarried fellow accountant Winifred Helen Crutchfield on 20 September 1958. From 1939 to 1940 he was a member of Warrnambool City Council. He served in World War II and was twice mentioned in dispatches; he lost his right eye at El Alamein. From 1944 he was again an accountant, and he became involved in the Liberal and Country Party.
