Glades Day School
Glades Day School is a K-12 private school in Belle Glade, Florida. It is accredited by the Florida Council of Independent Schools. It was founded in 1965 as a segregation academy by white parents in response to the court-ordered desegregation of Palm Beach public schools. It opened as Pahokee Day School and was renamed in 1967 as Day School of the Glades when it purchased and renovated the former Everglades Memorial Hospital in Pahokee. In 2006, Pahokee Mayor JP Sasser told a newspaper that he left the school in 1970 because administrators prohibited the football team from shaking hands with racially integrated opponents, but that he now supports the school "because they are not the same school." In 2006, the student body was 8.5% Black, while nearby public high schools were ( Glades Central and Pahokee) were more than 97% Black. K-12
K-1 is a professional kickboxing promotion established in 1993, well known worldwide mainly for its heavyweight division fights and Grand Prix tournaments. In January 2012, K-1 Global Holdings Limited, a company registered in Hong Kong, acquired the rights to K-1, and is the current organizer of K-1 events worldwide. WBGF is a radio station serving the West Palm Beach, Florida market. Owned by ANCO Media Group and licensed to Belle Glade, Florida, it broadcasts a dance/EDM format, branded as ''Revolution Radio 93.5''. History The station went on the air as WSWN-FM on October 10, 1978. On June 19, 1989, the station changed its call sign to the current WBGF. The station previously broadcast a regional Mexican format branded as ''Radio Lobo''; on September 22, 2014, WBGF was acquired by JVC Media from its previous owner BGI Broadcasting. Kelvin Taylor (born September 28, 1993) is an American football running back for the Massachusetts Pirates of the IFL. He played college football at Florida. Early years Taylor attended Glades Day School in Belle Glade, Florida. As a junior, he broke Emmitt Smith's Florida career rushing yards record. For his career, he had 12,121 yards and 191 touchdowns. Taylor was rated by ESPN.com as a five-star recruit and ranked as the nation’s No. 1 running back in his class. Belle Glade, Florida
Belle Glade is a city in south-central Florida and it is the far western part of Palm Beach County, Florida, United States, on the southeastern shore of Lake Okeechobee. According to the 2010 U.S. Census, the city had a population of 17,467. Belle Glade (and the surrounding area) is sometimes referred to as "Muck City" due to the large quantity of muck, in which sugarcane grows, found in the area.
