The Gjegnalundsbreen glacier is located in Vestland county, Norway. The glacier sits on the borders of the municipalities of Bremanger and Gloppen. The glacier sits on the eastern side of the tall mountain Blånibba, inside the Ålfotbreen landscape protection area which also includes the nearby Ålfotbreen glacier. Bremanger
Bremanger is a municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village of Svelgen is the administrative centre of the municipality. Other villages include Bremanger, Berle, Davik, Isane, Kalvåg, Svelgen, Rugsund, and Ålfoten. Bremanger is the only municipality in Vestland, which is located in two districts. The northern and eastern parts comprising the villages of Oldeide, Berle, Rugsund, Davik, Isane, and Ålfoten is located in the Nordfjord region, while the villages of Bremanger, Kalvåg, Svelgen, Sørgulen, and Botnane are located in the Sunnfjord region. Politically, the municipality works with the Nordfjord region in the council of Nordfjord municipalities. Gloppen
Gloppen is a municipality in the county of Vestland, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Nordfjord. Gloppen is generally subdivided into three areas: Hyen in the west, Gloppen in the center, and Breim in the east. Each of the areas have their own main service centres. Sandane, the administrative centre of the municipality, is the largest with about 2,500 inhabitants. Sandane, Vereide, and Sørstranda are centered on the Gloppefjorden in Gloppen in the central part of the municipality. The villages of Byrkjelo, Re, Kandal, and Egge are centered on the lake Breimsvatnet in the Breim area in the east. Blånibba
Blånibba or Gjegnet or Uksen is the highest mountain in the municipality of Bremanger in Vestland county, Norway. The mountain has a topographic prominence of , the fifth-highest prominence in Norway. The glacier Gjegnalundsbreen lies directly to the east of the mountain. The mountain is about southeast of the village of Ålfoten in Bremanger and about northwest of the village of Sandane in neighboring Gloppen municipality. Names The name ''Gjegnen'' is a definite noun derived from the adjective ''gjegn'' which means "straight" or "direct". The Ã…lfotbreen glacier is located in Vestland county, Norway. The glacier is located on the border of three municipalities in the Nordfjord region: Bremanger, Kinn, and Gloppen. It is located west of the village of Hyen, south of the village of Ã…lfoten, and east of the village of Svelgen. The glacier reaches an elevation of at its highest point. Vestland
Vestland is a county in Norway established on 1 January 2020. The county is located in Western Norway and it is centred around the city of Bergen, Norway's second largest city. The administrative centre of the county is the city of Bergen, where the executive and political leadership is based, but the County Governor is based in Hermansverk. Nordfjorden (Sogn Og Fjordane)
Nordfjorden is the sixth longest fjord in Norway. It flows through the municipalities of Stryn, Gloppen, Stad, Bremanger, and Kinn, and it is the central feature of the entire Nordfjord region which makes up the northern third of the county. The long fjord stretches from Husevågøy island in Kinn Municipality to the village of Loen in Stryn Municipality. The fjord starts as runoff from the Jostedalsbreen, Europe's largest mainland glacier, in the east and it flows west, emptying into the ocean just south of the Stadlandet peninsula. The mouth of the fjord lies between the large islands of Vågsøy and Bremangerlandet (with the smaller island of Husevågøy lying in the middle of the mouth). There are several smaller fjords which branch off the main Nordfjorden: Eidsfjorden, Ålfotfjorden, Hyefjorden, and Gloppefjorden. Hyefjorden
Hyefjorden is a fjord in Gloppen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The long Hyefjorden is relatively narrow with steep rock walls located close to the fjord on both sides. The west side is where impassable mountains plunge straight into the fjord. Norwegian County Road 615 runs on the east side of the bay, with a series of tunnels through avalanche areas. The Hyefjorden flows from the village of Hyen at the south to the north where it flows into the large Nordfjorden. Hyen
Straume or Hyen is a village in Gloppen Municipality in Vestland, Norway. The village lies near the southern end of the Hyefjorden near the mouths of the rivers Åelva and Hopelva. Straume is located about northeast of the lake Eimhjellevatnet, where the villages of Eimhjellen and Solheim, Sogn og Fjordane, Solheim are located. Hyen Church is located in Straume, serving the whole western part of Gloppen municipality. There are around 600 people living in the Hyen area. The village lies along Norwegian County Road 615 which connects the whole Hyen valley to the municipal center of Sandane to the east and to the village of Eikefjord (village), Eikefjord (in Flora Municipality) to the west.
