Givon Art Gallery
The Givon Art Gallery is a contemporary art gallery in Tel Aviv, Israel. The Gallery was founded in 1974 by Sam Givon on Gordon Street in Tel Aviv. In 1979 his daughter, Naomi (Noemi) opened the Givon Contemporary Art Gallery. Since the founder's death in 2000, the Gallery has been managed by Naomi Givon and is co-owned with her sister, Nurit Wolf, an attorney. The proprietor is Naomi Givon. In 2012 Givon completed the architecturally notable renovation of an abandoned 1890 house in Tel Aviv's Neve Tzedek neighborhood. Neve Tzedek
Neve Tzedek ( he, נְוֵה צֶדֶק, נווה צדק, ''lit.'' Abode of Justice) is a neighborhood located in southwestern Tel Aviv, Israel. It was the first Judaism, Jewish neighborhood to be built outside the old city of the ancient port of Jaffa. Originally it was a Sephardi Jewish neighbourhood. Since the 1990s, rundown properties have been restored and it is now a fashionable quarter of Tel Aviv. Name Literally, Neve Tzedek means Abode of Justice, but it is also one of the names for Yahweh, God (). History Neve Tzedek was established by a group of Sephardi Jewish families seeking to move outside of over-crowded Jaffa. Pinchas Cohen Gan
Pinchas Cohen Gan ( he, פנחס כהן גן) (born November 3, 1942) is an Israeli painter and mixed-media artist. He was awarded the Sandberg Prize (1979), the Culture and Sport Ministry's prize for his life's work (2005), and the Israel Prize in Art (2008). Biography Pinchas Cohen Gan was born in 1942 in Meknes, Morocco, to an observant Jewish upper-middle-class family. His father, Moshe HaCohen, was a painter who left his art to support his family as a merchant; and his mother, Rivka Gan, worked as a French teacher. Moshe Gershuni (11 September 1936 – 22 January 2017) was an Israelis, Israeli painter and sculptor. In his works, particularly in his paintings from the 1980s, he expressed a position different from the norm, commemorating The Holocaust in Israeli art. In addition, he created in his works a connection between bereavement and homoerotic sexuality, in the way he criticized society and Israeli Zionism-nationalism. He was awarded the Israel Prize for Painting for his work in 2003, but in the end it was revoked and he was deprived of receiving the prize. Raffi Lavie art education, educator and music/art criticism, critic. Lavie's work is a cross between graffiti and abstract expressionism. Biography Rafael (Raffi) Lavi was born in Tel Aviv, Mandatory Palestine, Mandate Palestine. He began teaching at HaMidrasha – Faculty of the Arts 1966. In the same year he was also a founder of the group ''Ten Plus''. Due to severe back problems, Lavie painted in his last years while sitting.
