Giovanni Quirici
Giovanni Quirici (1824–1896) was an Italian composer. Quirici was born in Arena Po, a small town between Pavia and Piacenza. He died in 1896 in Turin. Unknown in biographic dictionaries, only some of his life details are known through Prospero Succio, keeper of the musical archives of the cathedral of Turin, who probably knew the composer personally. Succio writes that G. Quirici's parents wanted him to become a notary public, but he elected to study music at the age of 14. He studied music theory in Milan with Boniforti, Manusardi and Padre Moro. A composer is a person who writes music. The term is especially used to indicate composers of Western classical music, or those who are composers by occupation. Arena Po ( lmo, Reina) is a (municipality) in the Province of Pavia in the Italian region of Lombardy, located about 45 km southeast of Milan and about 20 km southeast of Pavia.
