Gioacchino Cocchi
Gioacchino Cocchi (''circa'' 1712 – 11 September 1796) was a Neapolitan composer, principally of opera. Cocchi was probably born in Naples in about 1712, although his place of birth has also been given as Padova. His first works were performed in Naples and in Rome; the most successful was ''La maestra'', written in Naples in 1747. It was performed at the Teatro Nuovo sopra Toledo of that city in the spring of 1747, and at the Teatro Formagliari of Bologna in October of the same year; on 11 March 1749 it was given at the King's Theatre, and in 1752 at the Teatro de' Fiorentini of Naples, with the title ''La scaltra governante''. As ''La scaltra governatrice'' it was given at the Académie de Musique in Paris on 25 January 1753, and as ''Die Schulmeisterin'' was performed in 1954 at the Schlosstheater in Berlin. Vincenzo Legrenzio Ciampi
Vincenzo Legrenzo Ciampi (2 April 1719 – 30 March 1762) was an Italian composer. He is best known today for a work that cannot be certainly ascribed to his pen, the song "Tre giorni son che Nina in letto senesta", formerly called Pergolesi's "Nina". Education and early career in Italy Ciampi was born in Piacenza and studied at the Naples Conservatorio della Pietà dei Turchini with Francesco Durante and Leonardo Leo.Van Boer 2012, p. 131. ''Alessandro nell'Indie'' () is a libretto in three acts by Pietro Metastasio. It was set to music around ninety times firstly by Leonardo Vinci, whose version premiered in Rome on 2 January 1730. The libretto was the fourth of five that Metastasio wrote for the Teatro delle Dame in Rome between 1727 and 1730. The work was dedicated to the Stuart pretender to the British throne, James Francis Edward Stuart, then resident in Rome. ''Alessandro nell'Indie'' became Metastasio's second most popular work, after ''Artaserse''. Both were written for the Rome carnival season Synopsis The libretto tells the story of the Indian campaign of Alexander the Great and his defeat of king Porus in 326 BCE at the Battle of the Hydaspes.
