Ginásio Municipal Tancredo Neves is an indoor arena, indoor sporting arena located in Uberlândia, Brazil. The capacity of the arena is 8,000 spectators and opened in 2007. It hosts indoor sporting events such as basketball and volleyball, and also hosts concerts. It stands just to the east of Estádio Parque do Sabiá. The arena is named after Tancredo Neves, a politician who had died shortly before taking office as the new president of Brazil in 1985. The arena will host for the first time an Ultimate Fighting Championship, UFC event on November 8, 2014. The Estádio Municipal Parque do Sabiá, also known as Parque do Sabiá ("Thrush Park"), is a multi-use stadium in Uberlândia, Brazil. It is currently used mostly for football matches. It is the home ground of Uberlândia Esporte Clube and Clube Atlético Portal, and is the biggest stadium in Minas Gerais state countryside. Tancredo de Almeida Neves () (4 March 1910 – 21 April 1985) was a Brazilian politician, lawyer, and entrepreneur. He served as Minister of Justice and Interior Affairs from 1953 to 1954, Prime Minister from 1961 to 1962, Minister of Finance in 1962, and as Governor of Minas Gerais from 1983 to 1984. He was elected President of Brazil in 1985, but died before taking office. He began his political career with the Progressistas (PP) of Minas Gerais, for whom he served as city councilman of São João del Rei from 1935 to 1937. He received the majority of votes and became President of the Municipal Legislature.
