Gino Manzares
Giovanni Manzares (born 15 August 1993) is a speedway rider from the United States. Career Manzares has won three medals at the AMA National Speedway Championship, silver in 2021 and two bronze in 2013 and 2019. In addition to this success he has won the 2013 AMA Speedway Long Track National Championship and 2012 AMA U21 US Speedway National Championship. He also reached the final of the 2014 Speedway Under-21 World Championship. Manzares began his British racing career riding for Ipswich Witches in the 2014 Premier League speedway season finishing with a 6.02 average. He also competed for Ipswich in 2015, finishing with a 5.43 average. He returned to British speedway in 2018 when he signed for the Scunthorpe Scorpions. In the 2021 North American final he crashed and suffered serious injuries which included two broken vertebrae, a collapsed lung and fractured hip and pelvis. Ipswich Witches
The Ipswich Witches are a British speedway club based at Foxhall Stadium near Ipswich, Suffolk. They compete in the British SGB Premiership. Meetings are staged on most Thursdays from March until October, normally commencing at 7.30pm (first race 7.45pm). The Witches are currently promoted by former Ipswich riders Chris Louis and Ritchie Hawkins. Chris Louis is the son of former rider and promoter John Louis History Early history Foxhall Stadium was purpose-built for speedway in 1950, and meetings were held there from 1951 to 1965 when the track was resurfaced for stock car racing. Attendances approached 20,000 and made stars of riders such as Syd Clarke, Junior Bainbridge, Tich Read and Peter Moore. Scunthorpe Scorpions
The Scunthorpe Scorpions are a speedway team in the British SGB Championship. They have raced at various times since 1972, at three different venues. History 1972–1978 The original Scunthorpe side were known as Scunthorpe Saints from 1972 to 1978, when they rode at Quibell Park Stadium on Brumby Wood Lane, the seven years in division 2 were unspectacular finishing in a best position of 13th place. 1979–1985 In 1979, a change of venue and name took place, they were renamed the Scunthorpe Stags and rode at Ashby Ville. The team continued to compete in the second division and continued to produce moderate results. The best placing was a 5th place finish during the 1983 National League season. Earlier known as Njudungarna and VMS Elit, the club was formed in 1946, and arranged their first meeting three years later. Motorcycle Speedway
Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). 2014 Speedway Under-21 World Championship
The 2014 Individual Speedway Junior World Championship was the 38th edition of the FIM World motorcycle speedway Under-21 Championships. Like 2013, the competition took place over three rounds, which were staged in July, August, and October. Piotr Pawlicki Jr. took the title, the third Polish rider to do so in just four years. Final Series Classification The meeting classification was according to the points scored during the meeting (heats 1–20). The total points scored by each rider during each final meeting (heat 1–20) were credited also as ''World Championship points''. The FIM Speedway Under 21 World Champion was the rider having collected most World Championship points at the end of the series. In case of a tie between one or more riders in the final overall classification, a run-off will decide the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
