John Gimson (born 11 March 1983) is an Olympic Silver Medallist and two time World champion in sailings Mixed multihull Olympic discipline. He lives in Congleton. In 2020 he became world champion in the Nacra 17 World Championship with partner Anna Burnet. They were selected for the British Olympic team and gained silver medals at the 2020 Summer Olympics. A veteran by the standards of many, John Gimson has forged a career in various formats of sailing and followed up success in the lead-up to Tokyo alongside Anna Burnet with silver in the Nacra 17 class at the 2020 Games. Andrew Gimson (born 1958) is a British political journalist. Gimson formerly wrote the parliamentary sketch for ''The Daily Telegraph'' and has written a novel entitled ''The Desired Effect'', as well as books about Boris Johnson, British monarchs and British Prime Ministers. In November 2011 he was succeeded as sketch writer on ''The Daily Telegraph'' by Michael Deacon. Gimson is a former pupil of Uppingham School where he attended West Bank House. Gimson was described by the art critic Nikolaus Pevsner as "the greatest of the English architect-designers". Today his reputation is securely established as one of the most influential designers of the English Arts and Crafts movement in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Sir Franklin Charles Gimson (10 September 1890 – 13 February 1975) was a British colonial administrator who served as Governor of Singapore from 1946 to 1952. Gimson assumed the post of the Colonial Secretary of Hong Kong in December 1941. However, his appointment was interrupted by the Battle of Hong Kong. He became a prisoner of war when then Governor Sir Mark Young surrendered to the Imperial Japanese Army on Christmas Day 1941. After spending more than three years in Stanley Internment Camp as an internee, Gimson was freed in August 1945, upon the Liberation of Hong Kong. He formed a short-lived provisional government and briefly declared himself "acting governor", but this administration was soon replaced when Rear Admiral Cecil Harcourt established the military government following in September. Career Gimson graduated from the University of Cambridge in 1987 with a degree in Modern Languages, before training as a journalist. Gimson was a Spanish bicycle and motorcycle brand, manufactured in Figueres by Gimbernat Hermanos S.R.C. in two distinct stages: the first in 1930 (producing a total amount of six ) and the second from 1955 to 1982. History Beginnings Early 20th century, Pierre Gimbernat i Batlle, a renowned clockmaker from Perpignan, obtained the license of distribution for French manufacturer Automoto for the Province of Girona. Gimson and Company were founded in 1840 by Josiah and Benjamin Gimson on Welford Road in Leicester. The company were listed as Engineers, Ironfounders, Boiler Makers & General Machinists. They later moved to Vulcan Works, Vulcan Road, Humberstone Road, Leicester. Expansion Between 1876 and 1878 a new works, Vulcan Foundry, was developed beside the Midland Railway mainline. The site covered three and a half acres, the foundry shop was 180 ft by 62 ft. It had a workforce of 350 men and all lifting was done with steam hoists and travelling cranes.
