Samson Gimson (born 22 January 1964) is a Singaporean professional golfer. Gimson played on the Japan Golf Tour from 1993 to 1997, winning once. Japan Golf Tour
The Japan Golf Tour ( ja, 日本ゴルフツアー機構) is a prominent golf tour. It was founded in 1973 and as of 2006 it offers the third-highest annual prize fund out of the regular (that is not for seniors) men's professional tours after the PGA Tour and the European Tour. However, since the early 1990s, the growth in prize money has not kept pace with that on the two larger tours. Official events on the Japan Golf Tour count for World Golf Ranking points, and success on the tour can also qualify members to play in the majors. Most of the leading players on the tour are Japanese, but players from many other countries also participate. The tour is currently run by the Japan Golf Tour Organization (JGTO), which was established in 1999 to separate the tour from the PGA of Japan. The JGTO also organises a developmental tour called the Japan Challenge Tour. A professional golfer is somebody who receives payments or financial rewards in the sport of golf that are directly related to their skill or reputation. A person who earns money by teaching or playing golf is traditionally considered a "golf pro," most of whom are teachers/coaches. The professional golfer status is reserved for people who play, rather than teach, golf for a career. In golf, the distinction between amateurs and professionals is rigorously maintained. An amateur who breaches the rules of amateur status may lose their amateur status. 1989 Southeast Asian Games
The 1989 Southeast Asian Games ( ms, Sukan Asia Tenggara 1989), officially known as the 15th Southeast Asian Games, was a multi-sport event held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 20 to 31 August 1989 with 25 sports featured in the games. It was officially opened by 9th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Azlan Shah. Although Cambodia did not participate, Laos returned to compete for the first time under the new federation name in this edition of the games, while Vietnam fields their own delegation to the event for the first time as a unified country. Hisayuki Sasaki
Hisayuki Sasaki (27 November 1964 – 3 January 2013) was a Japanese professional golfer. Sasaki won three tournaments on the Japan Golf Tour and featured in the top 100 of the Official World Golf Ranking. Sasaki tied Davis Love III for the individual trophy of the 1995 World Cup of Golf but lost on the fifth hole of a sudden-death playoff. Sasaki played on the PGA Tour in 1996 but with only three top-25 finishes he failed to maintain his playing rights. He finished third in the 1997 Andersen Consulting World Championship of Golf. Eisenhower Trophy
The Eisenhower Trophy (World Men's Amateur Team Championships) is the biennial World Amateur Team Championship for men organized by the International Golf Federation. Since the tournament was first played in 1958, it is named after Dwight D. Eisenhower, the President of the United States at the time, who was a keen amateur golfer. The equivalent competition for women is the Espirito Santo Trophy. Results The 1958 championship resulted in a tie. There was an 18-hole playoff which Australia won with a score of 222 to the United States 224. From 1958 to 2000 the teams had four players with the best three scores counting for each round. From 2002 the teams have been three players with two counting. The 2004, 2010 and 2012 championships were reduced to 54 holes because of bad weather. The 1988 Eisenhower Trophy took place 15 to 18 September at the Ullna Golf Club near Stockholm, Sweden. It was the 16th World Amateur Team Championship for the Eisenhower Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 39 four-man teams. The best three scores for each round counted towards the team total. The combined team of Great Britain and Ireland won the Eisenhower Trophy for the third time, finishing five strokes ahead of the silver medalists, United States. Australia took the bronze medal, a further eight strokes behind with Sweden finishing fourth. World Cup (men's Golf)
The World Cup of Golf is a men's golf tournament contested by teams of two representing their country. Only one team is allowed from each country. The players are selected on the basis of the Official World Golf Ranking, although not all of the first choice players choose to compete. The equivalent event for women was the Women's World Cup of Golf, played from 2005 to 2008. The 1990 World Cup took place at the Grand Cypress Resort Golf Club in Orlando, Florida, United States. It was the 36th World Cup event. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 32 teams. Each team consisted of two players from a country. The combined score of each team determined the team results. The German team of Bernhard Langer and Torsten Giedeon won by three strokes over the England team of Mark James and Richard Boxall and the Ireland team of David Feherty and Ronan Rafferty in a share of second place.
