Gilles Baril (born 8 December 1940) was a politician in Quebec, Canada and a Liberal member of the National Assembly of Quebec (MNA). He was born in Duparquet, Quebec on 8 December 1940. Baril defeated his namesake incumbent Gilles Baril in the 1985 Quebec election and became the Quebec Liberal Party Member of the National Assembly for the district of Rouyn-Noranda–Témiscamingue Rouyn-Noranda–Témiscamingue is a provincial electoral district in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region of Quebec, Canada, which elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. Gilles Baril (born 24 March 1957) is a Canadian businessman, journalist and former politician in Quebec, Canada. He was a Parti Québécois member of the National Assembly of Quebec (MNA). Early life and education Born in Saint-Eugène-de-Guigues, Quebec, Baril has a B.A. in Journalism and Political Science from the University of Moncton. Political career He defeated incumbent Camil Samson in 1981 and became the Parti Québécois Member of the National Assembly for the district of Rouyn-Noranda–Témiscamingue at the age of 24. He became parliamentary assistant in 1984. Rémy Trudel (born April 20, 1948) is a university professor and a former Quebec politician. A member of the Parti Québécois, he served as Member of the National Assembly for Rouyn-Noranda–Témiscamingue from 1989 to 2003. In 1988, he was one of the star candidates for the New Democratic Party in the riding of Témiscamingue. He lost the election by about 3,500 votes. Trudel was born in Sainte-Thècle. He has a bachelor's degree in pedagogy from Université Laval, a bachelor's degree in education sciences from the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières and a doctor's degree in education administration from the University of Ottawa. Duparquet, Quebec
Duparquet () is a ''ville'' in northwestern Quebec, Canada in the Abitibi-Ouest Regional County Municipality, MRC d'Abitibi-Ouest. It covers and had a population of 716 as of the Canada 2021 Census. History In 1912, a rich gold vein was discovered near Lake Duparquet by a prospector named Beattie. He set up the Beattie Gold Mine company that began operation in 1933. That same year, the new community forming at the mine was incorporated as Ville de Duparquet, named after the geographic township in which it is located. The township was named in 1916 in honour of Jean-Annet Chabreuil Du Parquet, a grenadier captain of the La Sarre Regiment, that was part of Louis-Joseph de Montcalm, General Montcalm's army. After producing 1 million ounces of gold and killing at least 27 miners, including 4 in a landslide on 9 July 1946, the mine closed in 1956. The 1989 Quebec general election was held on September 25, 1989, to elect members of the National Assembly of the Province of Quebec, Canada. The incumbent Quebec Liberal Party, led by Premier Robert Bourassa, won re-election, defeating the Parti Québécois, led by Jacques Parizeau.
