Traeger is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. It was created in the 2017 redistribution, and was named after Alfred Traeger, inventor of the pedal-powered radio, which was a significant contribution to people living in remote and rural communities in Queensland, such as those within Traeger. It takes in most of the urbanised portions of the abolished districts of Mount Isa and Dalrymple. It includes the local government areas of Burke, Doomadgee, Carpentaria, Croydon, Etheridge, Charters Towers, Mount Isa, Cloncurry, McKinlay, Richmond and Flinders. Geography The name Four Ways refers to the Burke Developmental Road which passes south-west to north through the locality with two junctions to the Burketown Road to the north-west and the Wills Developmental Road to the south-east. The locality is bounded by the Leichhardt River to the west and by the Flinders River to the east. A watershed running from north to south through the locality separates two drainage basins. The Alexandra River rises in the south-west of the locality and flows north to become a tributary of the Leichhardt River which flows into the Gulf of Carpentaria. The Leichhardt River is a river in north west Queensland, Australia. Course The source of the river is in the Selwyn Range under Rifle Creek Hill and fed by Rifle Creek approximately south of the mining town Mount Isa. It runs in a generally northerly direction almost parallel with the Diamantina Developmental Road until it reaches Mount Isa and crosses the Barkly Highway.
