Gideon Samson
Gideon Samson (born 17 February 1985) is a Dutch writer of children's literature. Career Samson made his debut as writer with the book ''Niks zeggen!''. He received the Vlag en Wimpel award for this book in 2008. In March 2009, he published the book ''Ziek'' and he won the Zilveren Griffel award for this book, making him the youngest winner of this award. He also won the Vlag en Wimpel award in 2017 for the book ''Eilanddagen'' and in 2018 for the book ''Alle dieren drijven''. In 2019, he won three awards for his book ''Zeb.'': the Zilveren Griffel, Gouden Griffel and the Nienke van Hichtum-prijs. His books have been published by the publisher Leopold. Gouden Griffel
The Gouden Griffel (Golden Stylus) is an award given to authors of children's or teenagers' literature in the Netherlands. History Since 1971, it is awarded each year during the Dutch Children's Books Week, by the Stichting Collectieve Propaganda van het Nederlandse Boek (Dutch Book Promotion Society) for the best children's books written in the past year. Between 1954 and 1970, one book per year was declared the "children's book of the year". Since then, ''griffels'' are awarded in several categories. Only novels written in Dutch are eligible for the ''gouden griffel''. However, the runner-up awards (Silver ''griffels'') can also be given to translated works. Aside from these, the ''Gouden Penseel'' (golden paintbrush) is awarded to the best illustrated children's books (with silver ''penseel'' as a runner-up), and since 1997 the Gouden Zoen (golden kiss, with silver as a runner-up) is awarded to the best books for teenagers. Nienke Van Hichtum-prijs
The Nienke van Hichtum-prijs (Dutch for Nienke van Hichtum Prize) is a biennial Dutch literary award for children's literature awarded by the Jan Campert-Stichting. The award is named after children's author Nienke van Hichtum and was first awarded in 1964. Annet Schaap with her book ''Lampje'' is the first author to have received this award with a debut novel. Children's Literature
Children's literature or juvenile literature includes stories, books, magazines, and poems that are created for children. Modern children's literature is classified in two different ways: genre or the intended age of the reader. Children's literature can be traced to traditional stories like fairy tales, that have only been identified as children's literature in the eighteenth century, and songs, part of a wider oral tradition, that adults shared with children before publishing existed. The development of early children's literature, before printing was invented, is difficult to trace. Leopold (publisher)
Leopold is a Dutch publishing house focused on children's literature based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Leopold was founded in 1923 by H. P. Leopold, owner of the magazine ''Haagse Post''. History Leopold published its first children's book ''Java Ho!'' (''De Scheepsjongens van Bontekoe'') by Johan Fabricius in 1924. Digital Library For Dutch Literature
The Digital Library for Dutch Literature (Dutch: Digitale Bibliotheek voor de Nederlandse Letteren or DBNL) is a website (showing the abbreviation as dbnl) about Dutch language and Dutch literature. It contains thousands of literary texts, secondary literature and additional information, like biographies, portrayals etcetera, and hyperlinks. The DBNL is an initiative by the DBNL foundation that was founded in 1999 by the Society of Dutch Literature (Dutch: Maatschappij der Nederlandse Letterkunde). Building of the DNBL was made possible by donations, among others, from the Dutch Organization for Scientific Research (Dutch: Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek or NWO) and the Nederlandse Taalunie.
