Giacomo Merizzi
Giacomo Merizzi (Tirano, 15 August 1834 – Tirano, 22 March 1916) was an Italian Roman Catholic archbishop. Biography Already capitular vicar of the Diocese of Como, on 14 December 1891 he was elected bishop of Vigevano. In the diocese of industrial development, he promoted the festival speakers, while Canon Clerici established the Leone XIII boarding school. He took special care of the seminary, reforming his studies and increasing the library. It also gave impetus to the Sacred Music Commission. He favored the charitable initiatives of the parish priests of the diocese, who in those years founded numerous institutes of assistance. Tirano
Tirano ( lmo, Tirà n, german: Thiran) is a town in Valtellina, located in the province of Sondrio in northern Italy. It has 9,053 inhabitants (2016) and is adjacent to the Switzerland-Italy border. In Christian denominations, an archbishop is a bishop of higher rank or office. Vigevano
Vigevano (; lmo, label=Western Lombard, Avgevan) is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Pavia, Lombardy in northern Italy. A historic art town, it is also renowned for shoemaking and is one of the main centres of Lomellina, a rice-growing agricultural district. Vigevano received the honorary title of city with a decree of Duke Francis II Sforza on 2 February 1532. It is famed for its beautiful Renaissance "''Piazza Ducale''" in the centre of the town. History The earliest records of Vigevano date from the 10th century AD, when it was a favoured residence of the Lombard king Arduin, for the sake of the good hunting in the vicinity.
