Giacomo Durando (cropped)
Giacomo Durando (4 February 1807 – 21 August 1894) was an Italian general and statesman. His brother Giovanni was also a general of the Risorgimento and a senator. Biography Durando was born at Mondovì, in Piedmont. He graduated in law in Turin in 1829. He was implicated in a liberal plot aiming to extort a constitution from king Charles Felix: after having been discovered, he was obliged to take refuge abroad together with his brother, first in Kentucky and then in France. In 1831 he fought in a foreign corps in the Belgian Revolution, and, the following year, he moved to Nashville where he was enrolled in a cavalry regiment of the constitutionalist army of King Pedro IV. The following year he entered the service of Spain, when he fought in various campaigns, and was promoted colonel in 1838. Alfonso Ferrero La Marmora
Alfonso Ferrero La Marmora (; 18 November 18045 January 1878) was an Italian general and statesman. His older brothers include soldier and naturalist Alberto della Marmora and Alessandro Ferrero La Marmora, founder of the branch of the Italian army now called the Bersaglieri. Biography Born in Turin, he entered the Sardinian army in 1823, and was a captain in March 1848, when he gained distinction and the rank of major at the . Domenico Farini
Domenico Farini (2 July 1834 – 18 January 1900) was an Italian soldier and statesman, who was President of the Italian Senate from 1887 to 1898. He was the son of politician Luigi Carlo Farini. Biography Farini was born at Montescudolo, in the Papal States (present-day province of Forlì-Cesena). After a period in Ravenna, he followed his family in exile to Tuscany and then to Osimo and Rome. In 1850 he entered the Military Academy of Turin, and later commanded a Sardinian sapper company during the Second Italian War of Independence. Sebastiano Tecchio (3 January 1807 – 24 January 1886), was an Italian lawyer and politician that was president of the Italian Senate from 1876 to 1884. The Senate of the Republic ( it, Senato della Repubblica), or simply the Senate ( it, Senato), is the upper house of the bicameral Italian Parliament (the other being the Chamber of Deputies). The two houses together form a perfect bicameral system, meaning they perform identical functions, but do so separately. The Order of the Crown of Italy ( it, Ordine della Corona d'Italia, italic=no or OCI) was founded as a national order in 1868 by King Vittorio Emanuele II, to commemorate the unification of Italy in 1861.
