The Ghana Davis Cup team represents Ghana in Davis Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Ghana Tennis Association. They have not competed since 2015. They competed in Group I in 1990. The Davis Cup is the premier international team event in men's tennis. It is run by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and is contested annually between teams from competing countries in a knock-out format. It is described by the organisers as the "World Cup of Tennis", and the winners are referred to as the World Champion team. The competition began in 1900 as a challenge between Great Britain and the United States. By 2016, 135 nations entered teams into the competition. Tennis is a racket sport that is played either individually against a single opponent ( singles) or between two teams of two players each ( doubles). The 2015 Davis Cup was the 104th edition of the Davis Cup, a tournament between national teams in men's tennis. It was sponsored by BNP Paribas. The 1988 Davis Cup (also known as the 1988 Davis Cup by NEC for sponsorship purposes) was the 77th edition of the Davis Cup, the most important tournament between national teams in men's tennis. This year's tournament marked the introduction of sub-divisions within each continental zone. Each zone would now feature two groups, with promotion and relegation between the two.
