Gevorg Sargsyan
Gevorg Sargsyan ( hy, Գևորգ Սարգսյան; born October 5, 1981) is an Armenian conductor. Winner of Sir Georg Solti Foundation grant-award for 2006, Gevorg Sargsyan is one of the most renowned Armenian artists in his generation. Born in Yerevan, Armenia he made his first steps as a musician as a cellist. In 1999, Gevorg Sargsyan, as an exceptional case, was admitted to the Orchestral Conducting Department of Yerevan Komitas State Musical Conservatory (prof. Yuri Davtyan). Aged 18, on his first year of studying Sargsyan proved to be an advanced student and was selected by the Yerevan State Conservatory to fill the position of music director and conductor of Conservatory's Symphony Orchestra. In 2002-2003 Gevorg continued his studies at the Konservatorium Wien (Austria) with prof. Max Cencic. G, or g, is the seventh letter in the Latin alphabet, used in the modern English alphabet, the alphabets of other western European languages and others worldwide. Its name in English is ''gee'' (pronounced ), plural ''gees''. History The letter 'G' was introduced in the Old Latin period as a variant of ' C' to distinguish voiced from voiceless . Paris Conservatory
The Conservatoire de Paris (), also known as the Paris Conservatory, is a college of music and dance founded in 1795. Officially known as the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP), it is situated in the avenue Jean Jaurès in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, France. The Conservatoire offers instruction in music and dance, drawing on the traditions of the 'French School'. Komitas State Conservatory Of Yerevan Alumni
Soghomon Soghomonian, ordained and commonly known as Komitas, ( hy, Կոմիտաս; 22 October 1935) was an Armenian priest, musicologist, composer, arranger, singer, and choirmaster, who is considered the founder of the Armenian national school of music. He is recognized as one of the pioneers of ethnomusicology. Orphaned at a young age, Komitas was taken to Etchmiadzin, Armenia's religious center, where he received education at the Gevorgian Seminary. Following his ordination as vardapet (celibate priest) in 1895, he studied music at the Frederick William University in Berlin. He thereafter "used his Western training to build a national tradition". He collected and transcribed over 3,000 pieces of Armenian folk music, more than half of which were subsequently lost and only around 1,200 are now extant.
