František Josef Gerstner
Franz Josef Gerstner (from 1810 Franz Josef Ritter von Gerstner, cs, František Josef Gerstner; 23 February 1756 – 25 July 1832) was a German-Bohemian physicist, astronomer and engineer. Life Gerstner was born in Komotau in Bohemia then part of the Habsburg monarchy. (Today it's Chomutov in the Czech Republic). He was the son of Florian Gerstner (1730–1783) and Maria Elisabeth, born Englert. He studied at the Jesuits gymnasium in Komotau. After that he studied mathematics and astronomy at the Faculty of Philosophy at the Charles-Ferdinand University in Prague between 1772 and 1777. In 1781 he started to study medicine at the University of Vienna, but later decided to quit his studies. Instead, he worked as an assistant at the astronomical observatory in Vienna under supervision of Maximilian Hell. John Gerstner
John Henry Gerstner (November 22, 1914 – March 24, 1996) was an American Reformed and Presbyterian theologian and professor of Church History at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and Knox Theological Seminary. He was an expert on the life and theology of Jonathan Edwards. Career Gerstner earned both a Master of Divinity degree and a Master of Theology degree from Westminster Theological Seminary. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Church History from Harvard University in 1945. He was originally ordained in the United Presbyterian Church of North America, then (due to church unions) with the United Presbyterian Church in the United States of America and the Presbyterian Church (USA). Sascha Gerstner (born 2 April 1977) is a German musician who has been one of the guitarists and backing vocalists of power metal band Helloween since 2002. He is also a former member of Freedom Call. Biography Gerstner grew up in Nuremberg, West Germany. He started playing keyboards at the age of six and switched to playing guitar when he was thirteen. His main musical influences were the Michael Schenker Group, Toto, Peter Gabriel, Chicago and Journey. At the age of seventeen, he started working as a studio guitarist in Nuremberg. In 1996, Gerstner joined the cover band scene in South Germany, where he met his former bandmates from Freedom Call. He joined Freedom Call in 1998, with whom he recorded two albums and did three big tours in Europe before leaving in 2001. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross (german: Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes) and its variants were the highest awards in the military and paramilitary forces of Nazi Germany during World War II. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded for a wide range of reasons and across all ranks, from a senior commander for skilled leadership of his troops in battle to a low-ranking soldier for a single act of extreme gallantry. Thomas Gerstner (born 6 November 1966) is a German football manager and former player. He is the manager of the German club SV Straelen. Playing career Gerstner was born in Worms, West Germany. He predominantly played in the 2. Bundesliga. In the 1989–90 season, he played for FC 08 Homburg in the Bundesliga. During this season, he scored his only first division goal on 22 August against FC St. Pauli. The next three years, he played for second division side VfB Oldenburg, who were almost promoted in the 1991–92 season. Wulfram Gerstner (born 1963 in Heilbronn) is a German and Swiss Computational neuroscience, computational neuroscientist. His research focuses on neural spiking patterns in neural networks, and their connection to learning, spatial representation and navigation. Since 2006 Gerstner has been a full professor of Computer Science and Life Sciences at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), where he also serves as a Director of the Laboratory of Computational Neuroscience.
