Germany In The Eurovision Song Contest 2001
Germany was represented by Michelle in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 with the song "Wer Liebe lebt", composed by Gino Trovatello and Matthias Stingl with lyrics by Eva Richter, was chosen to represent Germany. Before Eurovision Countdown Grand Prix 2001 The final took place on 2 March 2001 at the Preussag Arena in Hanover, hosted by Axel Bulthaupt. The winner was chosen in two rounds of televoting, the first round to select the top 3, and the second to decide the winner. Michelle got the highest number of votes from the audience in the second round of voting and was proclaimed winner and entrant for Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2001. At Eurovision Michelle performed 19th on the night of the final, following Poland and preceding Estonia. At the close of voting, she had received 66 points, finishing in 8th place out of 23 contestants. Michelle (German Singer)
Tanja Gisela Hewer (born 15 February 1972), known by the stage name Michelle, is a German schlager singer. She represented Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 with the song ''Wer Liebe lebt'' ("To Live for Love"), which placed eighth from 23 participating countries with 66 points. TUI Arena
ZAG-Arena (formerly Preussag Arena and TUI Arena) is an arena in Hanover, Germany. The arena opened in 2000 and holds 10,767, during hockey or handball matches and up to 14,000, during concerts. It is the biggest indoor-venue in the Hanover Region and most major concerts are held there. The arena is situated at the Expo Plaza in the Expo 2000 grounds, in the south of Hanover, astride the Kronsberg and Mittelfeld areas. Ralph Siegel (born 30 September 1945) is a German record producer and songwriter. Siegel is one of the most notable figures at the Eurovision Song Contest, in which he has participated with 24 songs so far, among them the 1982 winner song Ein bisschen Frieden. Life and career Siegel is a prolific producer in the German genre of Schlager music. Since the early 1970s, he worked with artists like Udo Jürgens, Mary Roos, Heino, Rex Gildo, Michael Holm, Chris Roberts, Costa Cordalis, Mireille Mathieu, Peter Alexander, Roy Black, Karel Gott and Marianne Rosenberg. Rudolph Moshammer (27 September 1940 – 14 January 2005) was a German fashion designer. He built a reputation for the extravagant clothes he designed and wore, and was well known in Germany's celebrity circuit. Moshammer was murdered in 2005 in the Grünwald suburb of Munich, Germany. Soultans
Soultans is an all-male R&B band notable predominantly in Europe, but also for signing on for a short contract with BMG. The Soultans originally consisted of three members and is based in Germany, although two of its members have English ties. The group resides under the German label, Coconut Records, which has also kick-started other small bands' careers. The lead vocalist, Marvin Broadie, and musician Marco Boi, were later replaced by Sascha van Haasen and Mike Marshall in 2002. Although the band suggested its inspirations as 1970's music, Soultans has added elements of hip hop, jazz and soul to their music, following in the lines of Londonbeat, another English band. Joy Fleming (born Erna Raad, 15 November 1944 – 27 September 2017) was a German singer. She is best known for her performance in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1975. She performed the song " Ein Lied kann eine Brücke sein" and was placed seventeenth out of nineteen countries. Despite its relatively low placing, the song has become popular amongst many Eurovision fans. She had a hit Disco record with the song and album "The Final Thing" in 1978 on Atlantic Records in the U.S. This was a covered song by the original artist Steve Bender (a member of the German Disco Group Dschinghis Khan) who also did the first version in 1976. She made a further Eurovision bid in 1986, participating in the German national contest with the song "Miteinander". Brigitte Oelke (born c. 25 May 1975 in St. Gallen) is a Swiss singer, actress, and dancer. Vita Brigitte Oelke's affection for music started very early in her life.
