German Africa Prize
The German Africa Prize or German Africa Award (german: Deutscher Afrika-Preis) has been awarded annually since 1993 by the (german: Deutsche Afrika Stiftung) to promote peace, democracy, social market economy and human rights. In addition to these primary goals, the German Africa Prize is intended to contribute to the understanding in Germany of Africa and increase awareness of Africa. Nominations and jury composition The award is announced by means of an annual invitation for nominations, with the participation of German diplomatic missions as well as the foreign representatives of the sponsors. Social Market Economy
The social market economy (SOME; german: soziale Marktwirtschaft), also called Rhine capitalism, Rhine-Alpine capitalism, the Rhenish model, and social capitalism, is a socioeconomic model combining a free-market capitalist economic system alongside social policies and enough regulation to establish both fair competition within the market and a welfare state. It is sometimes classified as a regulated market economy. The social market economy was originally promoted and implemented in West Germany by the Christian Democratic Union of Germany under Chancellor Konrad Adenauer in 1949, and today the term is used by ordoliberals, social liberals, and social democrats, who generally reject full state ownership of the means of production but support egalitarian distribution of all goods and services in a market segment. Alpha Oumar Konaré (born 2 February 1946) is a Malian politician, who served as President of Mali for two five-year terms from 1992 to 2002 and was Chairperson of the African Union Commission from 2003 to 2008. James Wuye is a Pastor of the General Council of the Assemblies of God Nigeria and co-director with Imam Muhammad Ashafa of the ''Interfaith Mediation Center of the Muslim-Christian Dialogue'' in Kaduna, Kaduna State, Northern Nigeria. Imam Muhammad Ashafa is co-director with Pastor James Wuye of the ''Interfaith Mediation Center of the Muslim-Christian Dialogue'' in Kaduna, Kaduna State, Northern Nigeria. Pieter-Dirk Uys (; born 28 September 1945) is a South African performer, author, satirist, and social activist. One of his best known roles is as Evita Bezuidenhout, an Afrikaner socialite. Background and early life Uys was born in Cape Town on 28 September 1945, to Hannes Uys, a Calvinist Afrikaner father, and Helga Uys, Helga Bassel, a Berlin-born Jewish mother.
