Gerhard Eck
Gerhard Eck (born January 24, 1960 in Schweinfurt) is a German politician, representative of the Christian Social Union of Bavaria. Political career Eck is a member of the Landtag of Bavaria. Since 2013, he has been State Secretary at the State Ministry of the Interior in the governments of successive Ministers-President Horst Seehofer (2013-2018) and Markus Söder (since 2018). Schweinfurt
Schweinfurt ( , ; ) is a city in the district of Lower Franconia in Bavaria, Germany. It is the administrative centre of the surrounding district (''Landkreis'') of Schweinfurt and a major industrial, cultural and educational hub. The urban agglomeration has 100,200 (2018) and the city's catchment area, including the Main-Rhön region and parts of South Thuringia, 759,000 inhabitants. The Landtag of Bavaria, officially known in English as the Bavarian State Parliament, is the unicameral legislature of the German state of Bavaria. The parliament meets in the Maximilianeum in Munich. Elections to the Landtag are held every five years and have to be conducted on a Sunday or public holiday. Horst Lorenz Seehofer (born 4 July 1949) is a German politician who served as Minister of the Interior, Building and Community under Chancellor Angela Merkel from 2018 to 2021. Markus Thomas Theodor Söder (born 5 January 1967) is a German politician serving as Minister-President of Bavaria since 2018 and Leader of the Christian Social Union in Bavaria (CSU) since 2019. Background, education and military service Söder was born in Nuremberg and is the son of a building contractor. After graduating from the '' Dürer- Gymnasium'' Nuremberg in 1986, Söder had his year of military service from 1986 to 1987.
