Gergebilsky District
Gergebilsky District (russian: Герге́бильский райо́н; av, Хьаргаби мухъ) is an administrativeLaw #16 and municipalLaw #6 district (raion), one of the forty-one in the Republic of Dagestan, Russia. It is located in the center of the republic. The area of the district is . Its administrative center is the rural locality (a '' selo'') of Gergebil. As of the 2010 Census, the total population of the district was 19,910, with the population of Gergebil accounting for 26.1% of that number. Raion
A raion (also spelt rayon) is a type of administrative unit of several post-Soviet states. The term is used for both a type of subnational entity and a division of a city. The word is from the French (meaning 'honeycomb, department'), and is commonly translated as "district" in English. A raion is a standardized administrative entity across most of the former Soviet Union and is usually a subdivision two steps below the national level, such as a subdivision of an oblast.
