Gerbach
Gerbach is a municipality in the Donnersbergkreis district, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Geography The village is situated on the Appelbach in the North Palatinate Highlands northwest of the Donnersberg between Kaiserslautern and Bad Kreuznach. Gerbach also includes the residential areas Althof, Kahlenbergweiher, Köhlerhof and Schneebergerhof. The Campingpark Pfalz is also located in the municipal area. History The first documentary mention was made in 1192. Until the end of the 18th century Gerbach belonged to the county of Falkenstein. In 1794 the left bank of the Rhine was occupied in the First Coalition War. From 1798 to 1814 Gerbach belonged to the canton of Kirchheim (also called Kirchheimbolanden) in the department of Donnersberg. As a result of the Congress of Vienna he was Bavarian from 1816 to 1945. Donnersbergkreis
The Donnersbergkreis is a district (''Kreis'') in the middle of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Neighboring districts are Bad Kreuznach (district), Bad Kreuznach, Alzey-Worms, Bad Dürkheim (district), Bad Dürkheim, Kaiserslautern (district), Kaiserslautern, Kusel (district), Kusel. History The district was created in 1969 by merging the districts Kirchheimbolanden (district), Kirchheimbolanden and Rockenhausen (district), Rockenhausen. Geography The district is located around the highest mountain of the Palatinate, the ''Donnersberg'' with 687 m above sea level. Coat of arms Both of the districts merged into the Donnersbergkreis had a wheel in their coat of arms, which are now also shown in the coat of arms of the new district. Matthias Willenbacher
Matthias Willenbacher (born 14 July 1969 at Schneebergerhof, Gerbach) is a German entrepreneur and pioneer in the field of renewable energy. Willenbacher studied physics and founded the company juwi together with Fred Jung in 1996. He was a member of the Executive Board of juwi AG from its founding until March 31, 2015. He is one of the protagonists shown in the film '' Die 4. Revolution – Energy Autonomy'', and with his enterprise one of the main sponsors of the film. Together with his partner Fred Jung he was awarded 'Greentech Manager des Jahres' in 2009 by the German magazine ''Capital''. Willenbacher and Jung established the 100 percent renewable foundation in 2008. With this charitable foundation, the founders want to make a contribution to environmental protection by promoting the use of renewable energies.
