Gerard Nash (footballer)
Gerard Nash (born 11 July 1986) is a former Irish professional footballer and coach. Nash played his youth football with Leixlip United F.C., Leixlip United and Belvedere F.C., Belvedere before joining the Ipswich Town F.C., Ipswich Town academy. He played for Ipswich Town F.C., Ipswich Town and also spent time on loan at Hartlepool United F.C., Hartlepool United and Southend United F.C., Southend United before he was forced to retire in 2006 due to complications occurring after two cruciate ligament injuries. He subsequently took up coaching roles at Ipswich, becoming the U18s manager in 2013 and later the same position in the U23s in 2016. He departed the club in May 2021 joining the Football Association of Ireland as High Performance Coach. Leixlip ( or ; , IPA: lʲeːmʲənˠˈwɾˠad̪ˠaːnʲ is a town in north-east County Kildare, Ireland. Its location on the confluence of the River Liffey and the Rye Water has marked it as a frontier town historically: on the border between the ancient kingdoms of Leinster and Brega, as an outpost of The Pale, and on Kildare's border with County Dublin. Leixlip was also a civil parish in the ancient barony of Salt North. As of 2016, the population of the town was 15,504. It is the fourth largest town in Kildare, and the 29th largest in Ireland. The Professional Development League is a system of youth association football, football leagues that are managed, organised and controlled by the Premier League or by the Football League. It was introduced by the The Football Association, Football Association via the Elite Player Performance Plan in 2012. The system was introduced in early 2012 and was active for the first time during the 2012–13 season. It is a successor to the Premier Reserve League, Premier Academy League and Football Combination. Football League First Division
The Football League First Division was a division of the Football League in England from 1888 until 2004. It was the top division in the English football league system from the season 1888–89 until 1991–92, a century in which the First Division's winning club became English men's football champions. The First Division contained between 12 and 24 clubs, playing each other home and away in a double round robin. The competition was based on two points for a win from 1888 until the increase to three points for a win in 1981.
