Gerald Nazareth
Gerald Paul Nazareth CBE, GBS (; 27 January 1932 – 13 August 2018) was a Hong Kong senior judge, who served in Hong Kong, Brunei and Bermuda. Gerald Nazareth was born in British Kenya. He was educated at the Catholic Parochial School in Nairobi and St. Xavier's College and Government Law College in Mumbai. Mr. Nazareth was called to the English Bar at Lincoln's Inn. Mr. Nazareth joined the Kenyan Public Service in 1954, as a prosecutor. He rose to the position of Senior Counsel. He moved to the British Solomon Islands in 1963 to take up the appointment of Assistant Attorney General. He subsequently became the Solicitor General and then Attorney General to the British Western Pacific High Commission. Mr. Nazareth also became a member of the island's Legislative and Executive Councils and was Deputy Governor for a short time. Commander Of The British Empire
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding valuable service in a wide range of useful activities. It comprises five classes of awards across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a Orders, decorations, and medals of the United Kingdom#Modern honours, knight if male or a dame (title), dame if female. There is also the related British Empire Medal, whose recipients are affiliated with the order, but are not members of it. Court Of Final Appeal (Hong Kong)
The Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal (HKCFA) is the supreme court, final appellate court of Hong Kong. It was established on 1 July 1997, upon the establishment of the Hong Kong, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, replacing the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council as the highest judicial institution under Hong Kong law. As defined in Articles 19 and 85 of the Hong Kong Basic Law, the Court of Final Appeal "exercises judicial power in the Region independently and free from any interference." The Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal Ordinance and the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal Rules set out the detailed functions and procedures of the court. Chia-Wei Woo (; 13 November 1937 – 2 March 2025) was a Hong Kong physicist and educator who was the inaugural president of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His work included raising funding and recruiting outstanding faculty for the university. Hong Kong Order Of Precedence
The Hong Kong order of precedence is a nominal and symbolic hierarchy of important positions within the Government of Hong Kong. Administered by the government's Protocol Division, the hierarchy does not determine the order of succession for the office of Chief Executive, which is instead specified by the Basic Law of Hong Kong. As a special administrative region of the People's Republic of China, Hong Kong theoretically maintains autonomy on all affairs other than defence and foreign relations.
