Gerald K. Maloney
Gerald K. Maloney is an American politician who served as the second mayor of West Valley City, Utah. Election as West Valley City Mayor Maloney was a one-time critic of West Valley City's incorporation in 1980, but the businessman from the Hunter area of the city saw an opportunity to end the bickering between the city's original three commissioners when he jumped into the mayoral race of 1981. West Valley City's form of government at incorporation was composed of three commissioners: Mayor Henry H. "Hank" Price, Renee Mackay, and Jerald Wagstaff. City residents voted to change the form of government to a council-manager form on July 28, 1981, and all three commissioners entered the race for mayor. Maloney announced his bid for mayor in mid-September, believing that a new form of government merited new leadership. "You don't put old wine in new bottles," he said. Michael Embley
Michael Roper Embley (born July 30, 1938) is an American politician who served as the third mayor of West Valley City, Utah. Career Embley was city coordinator for St. George, Utah from 1970 to 1973. He then served as the city manager of Cedar City, Utah from 1973 to 1978. In 1983 he served a short appointed term as acting Salt Lake County Treasurer, and later served as a board member of the Salt Lake Valley Water Conservancy District. Embley was general manager of the Kearns Improvement District when he decided to get involved in West Valley City politics. West Valley City Politics Embley was elected to represent District 1 on the West Valley City Council on November 3, 1981 over Ray White with a vote of 53% to 47%. West Valley City
West Valley City is a city in Salt Lake County and a suburb of Salt Lake City in the U.S. state of Utah. The population was 140,230 at the 2020 census, making it the second-largest city in Utah. The city incorporated in 1980 from a large, quickly growing unincorporated area, combining the four communities of Granger, Hunter, Chesterfield, and Redwood. Granger High School is a public high school located in West Valley City, Utah, United States. The school enrollment for the 2019–20 school year was 3,155 with 123 teachers, for a teacher to student ratio of 25.64. The mascot is the Granger Lancer. The school was designed with a King Arthur theme, hence the cafeteria is known as Stonehenge, and the school's colors are the same as King Arthur's (crimson red, Columbia blue, and silver gray). Draper, Utah
Draper is a city in Salt Lake and Utah counties in the U.S. state of Utah, about south of Salt Lake City along the Wasatch Front. As of the 2020 census, the population is 51,017, up from 7,143 in 1990. Draper is part of two metropolitan areas; the Salt Lake County portion is in the Salt Lake City metropolitan area, while the Utah County portion is in the Provo-Orem metropolitan area.
