Ger Maguire
Ger Maguire (born 1973) is an Irish retired hurler and Gaelic footballer who play as a full-forward for the Tipperary senior teams. Born in Cullen, County Tipperary, Maguire first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he first linked up with the Tipperary minor team, before later joining the under-21 teams as a dual player as well as the junior and intermediate hurling sides. He joined the senior panels as a dual player during the 1995 championship. Maguire remained as a peripheral player on both teams for a number of seasons, winning one National Hurling League medal. At club level Maguire is a one-time intermediate championship medallist with Lattin–Cullen. In retirement from playing Maguire became involved in team management. He was an All-Ireland-winning selector with the Tipperary minor team in 2006, before later serving as a selector with the under-21 team. Lattin–Cullen GAA
Lattin–Cullen GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club which represents the parish villages of Lattin, County Tipperary, Lattin and Cullen, County Tipperary, Cullen in Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The club plays at Hannon GAA Park (opened 2009) which is situated in the village of Lattin, and is an affiliate club of the West Tipperary GAA division. The club has traditionally has been one of the top three senior football clubs in the West Tipperary GAA Division. The club also plays hurling up to the Intermediate grade. Tipperary Intermediate Hurling Championship
The Tipperary Intermediate Hurling Championship is an annual hurling competition organised by the Tipperary County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1979 for the third-tier hurling teams in the county of Tipperary in Ireland. The series of games are played during the summer and autumn months with the county final currently being played at Semple Stadium in October. The championship has always been played on a regional basis, whereby the respective champions from the Mid, North, South and West championships contest the county series of games. However, in recent years, the championship has followed the same system as the senior grade in Tipperary. Currently (2018) there are 21 teams in the county championship divided up into 6 groups (3 groups with 4 teams, 3 groups with 3 teams). Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. The objective of the game is for players to use an ash wood stick called a hurley (in Irish a ', pronounced or ) to hit a small ball called a ' between the opponent's goalposts either over the crossbar for one point or under the crossbar into a net guarded by a goalkeeper for three points. The 2006 All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship was the 76th staging of the All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1928. The championship began on 1 April 2006 and ended on 3 September 2006 Galway entered the championship as the defending champions in search of a third successive title. On 3 September 2006 Tipperary won the championship following a 2-18 to 2-07 defeat of Galway in the All-Ireland final. This was their 17th All-Ireland title overall and their first title since 1996. The 1999 National Hurling League, known for sponsorship reasons as the Church & General National Hurling League, was the 68th edition of the National Hurling League (NHL), an annual hurling competition for the GAA county teams. Tipperary won the league, beating Galway by 1–14 to 1–10 in the final. Structure There are 14 teams in Division 1, divided into 1A and 1B. Each team plays all the others once, either home or away. The GAA Hurling All-Ireland Minor Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Electric Ireland GAA Hurling All-Ireland Minor Championship) is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition for male players under the age of 17 in Ireland and has been contested every year - except for a three-year absence during the Emergency - since 1928. The final, currently held on the third Sunday in August, is the culmination of a series of games played during July and August, with the winning team receiving the Irish Press Cup. National Hurling League
The National Hurling League is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into six divisions, with either five or six teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league. Although primarily a competition for Irish teams, teams from England – currently Lancashire GAA, Lancashire, London GAA, London and Warwickshire GAA, Warwickshire – also take part, while in the past New York GAA, New York also fielded a team for the latter stages of the league.
