The Georgian Football Federation ( GFF; ka, საქართველოს ფეხბურთის ფედერაცია, ''sakartvelos pekhburtis pederatsia'') was founded in 1936. Based in Tbilisi, it was part of the Football Federation of Soviet Union from 1936 to 1989. The Independent Georgian Football Federation was established on 15 February 1990. It is the governing body of football in Georgia. It organizes the football league, the Erovnuli Liga, and the Georgia national football team. Union of European Football Associations (UEFA ; french: Union des associations européennes de football; german: Union der europäischen Fußballverbände) is one of six continental bodies of governance in association football. Levan Kobiashvili
Levan Kobiashvili ( ka, ლევან კობიაშვილი, born 10 July 1977) is a Georgian former professional footballer and the current president of the Georgian Football Federation and a member of Parliament of Georgia. He played primarily as a left wingback or left winger. During his career, Levan played for Gorda Rustavi, Dinamo Tbilisi, Alania Vladikavkaz and three German clubs: SC Freiburg, Schalke 04 and Hertha BSC. Kobiashvili is the most-capped Georgian player for the local national football team. He won 100 caps for his home country. In October 2015, he was elected president of the Georgian Football Federation. In 2016, Kobiashvili was elected as a member of Parliament of Georgia. Erovnuli Liga
The Erovnuli Liga ( ka, ეროვნული ლიგა - lit. National League) is the top division of professional football in Georgia. Since 1990, it has been organized by the Professional Football League of Georgia and Georgian Football Federation. From 1927 to 1989, the competition was held as a regional tournament within the Soviet Union. From 2017 the Erovnuli Liga switched to a spring-autumn system, with only 10 clubs in the top flight. Georgia National Football Team
The Georgia national football team ( ka, საქართველოს ეროვნული საფეხბურთო ნაკრები, tr) represents the country of Georgia in men's international football matches, and it is controlled by the Georgian Football Federation. The Georgian team's first match took place in 1990, while Georgia was still part of the Soviet Union. The team have attempted to qualify for each major tournament from Euro 1996 onwards, but have not achieved qualification yet, although they came very close to Euro 2020. Nodar Akhalkatsi ( ka, ნოდარ ახალკაცი; 2 January 1938 – 24 January 1998) was a professional Association football, football manager from Georgia (country), Georgia. Coaching career Akhalkatsi coached USSR, Soviet club FC Dinamo Tbilisi, Dinamo Tbilisi to the Soviet Top League 1978, USSR league championship in 1978, with a side that contained the likes of David Kipiani, Ramaz Shengelia, Vitaly Daraselia, Tengiz Sulakvelidze and Aleksandr Chivadze, all of whom were regular Soviet internationals. Merab Jordania ( ka, მერაბ ჟორდანია; born 3 September 1965), is a Georgian former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Georgi Nemsadze
Georgi Nemsadze (born 10 May 1972) is a Georgian former professional football midfielder and manager. In addition to Georgian teams, he played for many European clubs such as Trabzonspor, Grasshopper Club Zürich, AC Reggiana and Dundee. Nemsadze is revered and beloved by Dundee F.C. fans for his football ability and consistently good form while at the club. He received numerous praise from independent Scottish football pundits and journalists; while Nemsadze also received plaudits from opposition fans in retrospect. Georgia Women's National Football Team
Georgia women's national football team represents Georgia in international football. Georgia took part in the world cup qualification group 7 for the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup, but withdrew after two matches, against Yugoslavia (0–11) and Turkey (0–1). After this, Georgia did not take part in qualification until the European Championships in 2009. Then, Georgia were placed in a group with Turkey, Northern Ireland and Croatia. Georgia finished last, with no points. Georgia won their first match on 11 May 2009, winning 3–1 against Macedonia, and also scoring their first goal in a competitive game that year, in a 1–3 defeat to Scotland in the qualification for the 2011 World Cup.
