The Georgia Open is the Georgia (USA) state open golf tournament, open to both amateur and professional golfers. It is organized by the Georgia section of the PGA of America. It has been played annually since 1954 at a variety of courses around the state. Franklin Langham
Franklin Langham (born May 8, 1968) is an American professional golfer. Langham was born in Thomson, Georgia. He played golf at the University of Georgia from 1989 to 1991 and was named an All-American in 1991. He played on the 1991 Walker Cup team. Langham played on the PGA Tour in 1996, 1998-2002 and 2005 and on the Nationwide Tour in 1993-95, 1997, 2003–04 and 2006–08. He has three victories on the Nationwide Tour and has had finished runner-up on four occasions in PGA Tour events. He best finish on the PGA Tour money list was 26th in 2000. His best finish at a major was 7th place at the 2000 PGA Championship. The 2008 season saw Langham's final year on the Nationwide Tour. Matt Peterson (born April 26, 1967) is an American professional golfer. Peterson was born in Chicago, Illinois. He played college golf at the University of Georgia where he won one event and was a three-time All-American. He turned professional in 1990. Peterson played on the Nationwide Tour in 1992, 1994–2001, and 2003–04, winning once at the 1995 Nike Central Georgia Open. He played on the PGA Tour in 2002 where his best finish was T-10 at the 2002 Valero Texas Open. Peterson is the head professional at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Georgia. Stephen Keppler
Stephen Derek Keppler (born February 18, 1961) is an English-American professional golfer. Keppler was born in London, England. He played college golf at Florida State University from 1980 to 1983, where he was a third-team All-American. Following his senior season, Keppler for Great Britain and Ireland in the 1983 Walker Cup. He played on the European Tour in 1984 with little success, making only three cuts in 13 events. He later became a club professional at several clubs in Georgia. A four-time winner of the Georgia PGA Championship and two-time winner of the Georgia Open, Keppler had his PGA Tour highlight when he led the 1995 BellSouth Classic after three rounds, only to finish third. Dicky Thompson (born June 13, 1957) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour and the Nationwide Tour. Thompson joined the Nationwide Tour in 1990. He won the Ben Hogan Baton Rouge Open and the Ben Hogan Elizabethtown Open en route to an 8th-place finish on the money list which earned him his PGA Tour card for 1991. He did not perform well enough on his rookie year on Tour to retain his card but got his Tour card for 1992 through qualifying school. After another poor year on the PGA Tour, he took a hiatus until earning his PGA Tour card for 1995 through qualifying school. He did not do well enough to retain his card but did record his best finish on the PGA Tour of his career, finishing in a tie for fourth at the Deposit Guaranty Golf Classic.
