Georges Pharand
Georges Hector Pharand (born December 2, 1868) was an Ontario businessman and political figure. He represented Prescott (provincial electoral district), Prescott in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1908 to 1911 as a Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario, Conservative member. He was born in Saint-Clet, Quebec in 1868, the son of Jean-Baptiste Pharand. He married Ariella Lapointe in 1891. He was a merchant at L'Orignal, Ontario and a land agent for the Canadian Pacific Railway. He defeated Louis-Joseph Labrosse in 1908 and was defeated by Gustave Évanturel in 1911; he was also unsuccessful in the 1914 provincial election. Louis-Joseph Labrosse (June 20, 1872 – after 1908) was an Ontario notary and political figure. He represented Prescott in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1905 to 1908. Gustave Évanturel (March 19, 1879 – February 9, 1934) was an Ontario notary and political figure. He represented Prescott in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1911 to 1923 as a Liberal and Independent Liberal and in the House of Commons of Canada as a Liberal member in 1925. He was born in Ottawa in 1879, the son of François-Eugène-Alfred Évanturel and Louisa Lee, and educated at the Collège Bourget in Rigaud, Quebec and the Université Laval. In 1910, he married Marie Emilia Chevrier. He was a notary public based in Alfred and president of a mutual life assurance company, L'Alliance Nationale. Saint-Clet is a municipality located in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Regional County Municipality within the Montérégie region of Quebec, Canada. The population as of the 2021 Canadian census was . L'Orignal () is a Franco-Ontarian village and former municipality, now part of Champlain Township in eastern Ontario, Canada. Its population in 2016 was 1,450. Franco-Ontarians (french: Franco-Ontariens or if female, sometimes known as ''Ontarois'' and ''Ontaroises'') are Francophone Canadians that reside in the province of Ontario. Most are French Canadians from Ontario. In 2016, the Government of Ontario calculated that there are approximately 622,415 francophones residing in the province.
