George S. Robinson
George S. Robinson is a North Carolina Republican Party (United States), Republican politician who served in the North Carolina House of Representatives from 1980–86 and 1988-96 and was selected by Caldwell County, North Carolina, Caldwell County party leaders in 2015 to return to the legislature to fill an unexpired term. Through the end of 2016, Robinson will fill the 87th District seat vacated by Edgar Starnes, who resigned to accept a position with the North Carolina State Treasurer's office. Robinson ran for a new full term but was defeated by Destin Hall in the March 15, 2016 Republican primary. Robinson, a native of Lenoir, North Carolina, is a veteran of the United States Air Force and an alumnus of the University of Tennessee. The North Carolina House of Representatives is one of the two houses of the North Carolina General Assembly. The House is a 120-member body led by a Speaker of the House, who holds powers similar to those of the President pro-tem in the North Carolina Senate. David Thomas Flaherty (December 9, 1928 – December 20, 2020) was an American businessman and politician. Early life David Thomas Flaherty was born on December 9, 1928, in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. He graduated from The English High School and served in the U.S. Army. He then attended Boston University, where he was elected student body president before graduating in 1956 with a degree in business administration. While his parents were Catholics and members of the Democratic Party, Flaherty converted to Methodism and became a member of the Republican Party.
