Dan Soucek
Daniel Frederick Chittenden Soucek (born April 22, 1969) is a Republican former member of the North Carolina Senate, who represented the State's 45th district. During his time in office, the 45th District included Alexander, Ashe, Watauga and Wilkes counties (2011 - 2012) and after redistricting, Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Caldwell and Watauga counties. On April 8, 2016, Soucek announced his immediate resignation. In December 2015 he had said he would not seek re-election, citing the desire to spend more time with his family. He served three terms in the North Carolina Senate. Background Dan Soucek was born in Westfield, New Jersey in 1969. North Carolina's 45th Senate district is one of 50 districts in the North Carolina Senate. It has been represented by Republican Dean Proctor since 2023. Young Life
Young Life is an evangelical Christian organization based in Colorado Springs, Colorado which focuses on young people in middle school, high school, and college. Week-long Summer camps are a major focus, and these have a definite evangelizing aspect. For example, there are large-group “Bible talks” once or twice daily often followed by small-group “cabin time” discussions. And toward the end of the week, the young people are asked to go outside, be alone for 15 minutes, and attempt to talk with or commune with God. Young Life estimates that a third of campers commit or re-commit their lives to Jesus and the Christian faith, with this estimate being based on “how many Bibles we gave out, how many kids went on new believer walk, and those who stood at ‘Say-So.’” The organization was started in Gainesville, Texas in 1941 by Presbyterian minister Jim Rayburn. The North Carolina National Guard (NCNG), commonly known as the North Carolina Guard, is a component of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety and the National Guard of the United States. It is composed of Army and Air National Guard units. The adjutant general's office is located in Raleigh.
