George Richardson (Indian Army Officer)
Lieutenant General Sir George Lloyd Reilly Richardson (20 September 1847 – 9 April 1931) was an officer in the British Indian Army from 1866 to 1909. He served across South East Asia, becoming a veteran of the Second Anglo-Afghan War and Boxer Rebellion, and later as commander of the Ulster Volunteer Force in Ireland. George Barclay Richardson (19 September 1924 – 2 July 2019) was a British economist, who was Warden of Keble College, Oxford, from 1989 to 1994. Life George Barclay Richardson was born in 1924 and educated at Aberdeen Central Secondary School before studying at the University of Aberdeen, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Mathematics in 1944. After joining the Admiralty's Scientific Research Department in 1944, he was commissioned as a lieutenant in the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve in 1945; he was then posted to the British Army on the Rhine as an Intelligence Officer. He then studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) at Corpus Christi College, Oxford, graduating in 1949, and was then a student at Nuffield College, Oxford, in 1950, before becoming a Fellow of St John's College, Oxford, in 1951. George Richardson (1737 or 1738 – c.1813) was a Scottish architectural and decorative draftsman and writer on architecture. Among his few remaining architectural works are two churches built for the Earl of Harborough: Holy Trinity Church, Teigh in Rutland and St Mary Magdalene's Church, Stapleford in Leicestershire. Captain George Taylor Richardson (September 14, 1886 – February 9, 1916) was a Canadian ice hockey player, businessman and soldier. Richardson played hockey for Queen's University and the 14th Regiment of Kingston, and was considered one of the finest amateurs of his time. He is enshrined in the Hockey Hall of Fame, and is the namesake of the George Richardson Memorial Trophy. Richardson was part of a prominent business family that owned and operated a grain processing business in Kingston, Ontario. He joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force in the First World War, and died in action in Belgium. George Richardson VC (1 August 1831 – 28 January 1923) was born in Derrylane, Killeshandra, County Cavan the son of John and Anne Richardson. He became an Irish recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.
