George Gilman (Oregon Politician)
George Gilman (1939 – December 2, 2016) was a politician from the U.S. state of Oregon. He served as the state representative for District 55 of the Oregon House of Representatives, the second largest House district in Oregon, from 2003 to 2011. A Republican, he served as vice-chair of the Transportation Committee as vice-chair and the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Transportation and Economic Development. Gilman represented the people of Lake and Crook Counties and of portions of Jackson, Deschutes, and Klamath counties. He was elected to the newly created District 55 in November 2002, and was elected to a fourth term in 2008. Mike McLane
Michael R. McLane is a judge on the 22nd Circuit Court of Oregon and a former Republican politician in the state's Legislature. McLane resigned his seat representing House District 55 in the Oregon House of Representatives on July 1, 2019. He was appointed to the circuit court bench by Democratic Governor Kate Brown. Early life and career Born in Condon, Oregon, McLane graduated from Condon High School in 1983, and then from Oregon State University with a degree in Agricultural Resource Economics in 1987. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from Lewis & Clark Law School and clerked for Justice W. Michael Gillette at the Oregon Supreme Court. Klamath County ( ) is one of the 36 counties in the U.S. state of Oregon. As of the 2020 census, the population was 69,413. The county seat is Klamath Falls. The county was named for the Klamath, the tribe of Native Americans living in the area at the time the first European explorers entered the region. Elections for the 75th Oregon Legislative Assembly took place in 2008. The Republican and Democratic primary elections were on May 20, 2008, and the general election was held on November 4, 2008. Fifteen of the Oregon State Senate's thirty seats were up for election, as were all 60 seats of the Oregon House of Representatives. In the general election, there were 39 races with both Democratic and Republican candidates; 24 were in districts previously represented by a Republican, 15 in districts previously represented by Democrats. ''The Bulletin'' is the daily newspaper of Bend, Oregon, United States. ''The Bulletin'' is owned by EO Media Group, which prior to January 2013 was named the East Oregonian Publishing Company. Over the years, a number of well-known journalists have been associated with the newspaper. History Establishment To start a newspaper in Bend, a printing press and other publishing equipment items were brought overland from the railhead at Shaniko by freight wagon. The ''Bend Bulletin'' was first published as a weekly newspaper on March 27, 1903. At the time, Bend was a mere hamlet in what was then part of Crook County. AmeriCorps Seniors is a United States government program run by the agency Corporation for National and Community Service. The program engages volunteers aged 55 and older to serve their communities. There are over 200,000 volunteers nationwide.
